Congratulations to the graduates of the U.S. military’s Joint Combined Exercise Training (JCET) program! Over the past month, U.S. Army Civil Affairs Team 126 partnered with Sierra Leone’s Force Reconnaissance Unit and State Protection Service to enhance skills in civil engagement, mission planning, leadership, and advanced medical training. Participants gained valuable expertise in trauma response, tactical care, and more. Well done to all!

I joined the deputy minister of defense and the nation's top military leaders today at the Armed Forces Training Center, Benguema, where they are transforming the parade grounds. The military also has 400 acres of farms and is fully supporting government delivery. #WeDeliver

At the signing ceremony of the MCC Energy Compact for Sierra Leone in Washington DC, I stated my profound gratitude to the United States Government and the American people for this support.

This grant will transform the energy infrastructure in Sierra Leone and unleash immense investment opportunities and private sector growth in Sierra Leone.

It also reminds us all that this grant is a well-deserved reward for good governance, and my government will continue pursuing its five transformational big game changers to achieve sustainable development for Sierra Leone.

I was thrilled to deliver a statement during the epoch-making signing ceremony for the USD$480 million @MCCgov Energy Compact.

As I mentioned, access to reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity goes beyond merely illuminating homes or powering industries; it serves as the catalyst for growth, stimulates innovation, and helps lift communities out of poverty.

I extend my earnest gratitude to the Government and people of the United States and the @MCCgov for their invaluable support.

My Government is fully dedicated to ensuring the effective implementation of this Compact.

I am saddened to learn about the collapse of a building at Shell, Kissy, east of Freetown. This is a devastating loss. My deepest condolences go out to all those who have lost loved ones today.

We will muster all our efforts to rescue, where possible, and provide all the support for survivors.

The National Disaster Management Agency will lead on this effort with the full support of my government.

We will launch a full-scale inquiry into this disaster and do all we can to prevent any recurrence of such a tragedy.

At my farm at Mafintha, today, I did my second fish harvest. There is always satisfaction in reaping what you sow.

I urge citizens to embrace fish farming at various scales because it will contribute to a stable supply of fish and supplement family income.

During the tour following the harvest, I encouraged us all to embrace agriculture so that we can grow what we eat.

As your President, I have promised to lead by example. Join me as we invest in agriculture to feed Salone.

As Coordinator of the @_AfricanUnion Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government on the Reform of the @UN Security Council (C-10) I am very pleased to have heard the announcement by Permanent Representative of United States to the UN and member of President Biden’s Cabinet @USAmbUN that United States now supports 2 Permanent Seats for Africa in the UN Security Council. This is a major and shift from the initial important pronouncement by @POTUS that United States supports permanent representation for Africa.

The announcement follows the historic and impactful debate on UN Security Council reform in the Council, which I chaired during Sierra Leone’s August presidency, focused on - “Addressing the historical injustice and enhancing Africa’s effective representation in the Security Council”.

The announcement confirms that the United States has heard and heeded to important call by agreeing to one of the core demands of the Common African Position. I look forward to further engagement on the question of the veto, to rectify the historical injustice, and I call on the other P5 partners for clear and unequivocal support for Africa and the Common African Position.

I am grateful for the recognition by the Government of Switzerland of Sierra Leone's continued commitment to upholding the Geneva Conventions and International Humanitarian Law. Our peaceful nation has survived the crucible of war and emerged a stronger and more inclusive and progressive democracy.

This 124 year old chair is a testament of resilience. But it is also an enduring reminder that through 75 years, and in the future, we will carry on confirming Sierra Leone's firm commitment to upholding the Geneva Conventions and International Humanitarian Law.

At the Kenema Secondary School, I again turned sod and handed the site of civil works urging great diligence and urgency in completing the total refurbishment of the school.

A modernised school infrastructure, to my mind, provides the appropriate space for achieving excellence in academia and thus preparing our next generation of highly skilled workers who will put us on the pathway of sustainable and irreversible development as a nation.

The Kenema Government Secondary School has produced an outstanding pedigree of students in the east of the country, and this will make the school an even better institution for training our pupils in the Eastern region.

Today, I was joined by family, friends, and well-wishers for the interment of my cherished elder sister, Mrs Agnes Anne-Marie Deen-Jalloh, in our birthplace of Tihun in Sogbini Chiefdom.

As I bid my dearest Sissy farewell, I felt the warmth of her love and the depth of her kindness by the myriad of people who came from far and near to celebrate her rich life and legacy.

Thank you all for the outpouring of love and support during our time of mourning.

Though broken by her death, I remain unbowed because of our enduring love, friendship and the unforgettable memories we have created. In the garden of memories, she will forever be the most beautiful flower.

Sissy Agnes’ legacy of selflessness and generosity will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew her.

Whether through her tireless dedication to education and community service or her unwavering commitment to family, she exemplified the true essence of womanhood, compassion and empathy.

As the dust returns to the earth as it was, the spirit returns to God, who gave it.

Rest in eternal peace, my darling Sister, until we meet again to part no more.
