Though Shujaa Raila Odinga,the Father of Devolution,is dead ,Devolution must not die with him and we must all become Shujaas to fight for Devolution that holds the key to a more Just Kenya, a more Equitable and inclusive Kenya that Raila fought for but is now under threat as Counties are starved of resources and employees go for months without pay and the National Government continues to claw back on the gains of Devolution and encroach on devolved functions.

Though Shujaa Raila Odinga the Freedom fighter is dead, the flame of freedom that burned in his heart throughout his years of detention and fighting in the trenches,must not die with him and We must all become Shujaas to fight for freedom at it’s hour of utmost peril ,especially now after the signing into law of the Computer Misuse and Cyber crimes (amendment Bill) 2024,within hours of his death, which law criminalizes dissent and curtails freedom of expression and reduces the digital democratic space that Our Shujaa Raila fought for throughout his life.

As my friend @GitobuImanyara argued the draconian Computer Misuse and Cyber Crime (Ammendment Bill)2024 law passed on the day Raila passed on says if you post something that offends someone online, you could be fined up to Sh20 Million or jailed for 10 years. Ten years for a tweet, a meme a Facebook post or a Tiktok video that the state finds uncomfortable!

This is not a law about protecting the public from cybercrime. It is a law about protecting power from criticism. It is a desperate attempt by a failing regime to silence the country's most vocal and politically awoke generation, the Kenyan Youth.
Is this the Kenya Shujaa Raila would have wanted ,without freedom of speech or expression?

To be Shujaas like Raila We must be prepared to sacrifice as he did the comfort and allures of the trappings of power ,offices and money that comes with collaboration with the System ,than the suffering that comes with confrontation of the violators of these rights and freedoms and the courage to stand for higher ideals than higher deals!

To be such Shujaas we must be Patriots who are prepared as Raila was in the words of Elvis Presley’s song “Impossible Dream
