This morning at the side-event during #COSP19, organized by Italy alongside @UAEMissionToUN and @IDA_CRPD_Forum, paralympic athletes took the floor and gave moving testimonies on what sport truly means to them, a journey of self-discovery, resilience and belonging that goes far beyond competition.

Their words reminded us that disability is too often viewed through a restrictive lens. Yet sport, recreation, and culture have the power to change that narrative. They create spaces where people can discover their strengths, build confidence, and become active protagonists in their communities.

Inclusion is not merely a policy objective; it is a cultural transformation. It begins when we stop focusing on limitations and start investing in people's potential. This is the path Italy has chosen: promoting the full valorisation of every person's talents, abilities, and dignity.

As Minister @Ale_Locatelli_ stated The Solfagnano Charter points the way forward, and we remain committed to turning its principles into concrete action.

Today, on the occasion of #COSP19, Italy together with @UKUN_NewYork and the @IDA_CRPD_Forum hosted the side event "Sporting Talents in the Life Project", dedicated to recognising the talents of persons with disabilities and supporting their full participation in life.

As Minister @Ale_Locatelli_ stated sport is a universal language that unites people, breaks down barriers and promotes respect, solidarity and participation - an extraordinary tool for inclusion and an essential dimension for the growth, autonomy and fulfilment of every person.

Through the Solfagnano Charter, Italy reaffirms its commitment to rights, inclusion and equal opportunities for all persons with disabilities. At the @UN #COSP19, Minister @Ale_Locatelli_ reaffirmed the new approach driving Italy's disability reform.

In line with the #SolfagnanoCharter and #CRDP, the plan introduces the "Life Project" to reduce bureaucracy, coordinate health and social services, and focus on people’s potential rather than their limitations.

The key goals include making #AI and #technologies accessible, protecting people during #crises, humanitarian emergencies, and conflicts.

At the UNHQ, 🇮🇹Minister for Disabilities @Ale_Locatelli_ inaugurated the exhibit “Inclusion and Disability: The #Solfagnano Charter “Nothing about us, without us”, a key document produced by the 🇮🇹G7 meeting, that foregrounds #inclusion, #dignity, and #equalopportunities for persons with #disabilities worldwide.

The message is simple yet powerful: we must recognize the potential in every person and work together to build a more #inclusive and #supportive society.

Min. @Antonio_Tajani, following the convening of Italy’s Ambassadors in the Middle East to take stock of the crisis in the Gulf, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and assistance to our nationals 🗣️: “I asked our Embassies to continue to closely monitor the security situation, in order to ensure timely and effective support for Italians in the region.
Our shared objective is a lasting peace: an agreement on a ceasefire, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to guarantee freedom of navigation, and the end of Iran’s military nuclear program. We are also following the situation in Lebanon: Iran must use its influence over Hezbollah to halt attacks against Israel.
We are working to promote an immediate de-escalation and a return to diplomatic dialogue, in coordination with our European and international partners.”
