Did you know that he is the only player in history to have played in the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, UEFA Intertoto Cup, and all five top levels of the English football league system?

Born in Limerick, Finnan earned 53 caps for the Republic of Ireland between 2000 and 2008, scoring twice.

He appeared in all four of Ireland's matches during the 2002 FIFA World Cup, reaching the Round of 16. He retired from international football in January 2008 after winning his 50th cap against Wales during the Euro 2008 qualifiers.
