@JacoKleynhans Also, 10% of global production is from deepwater projects. Cost of production is $45-$55/bbl depending on complexity of the field. Oil price below these numbers takes these fields out of play. So in reality, in order to be energy secure we need a benchmark price of +/- $65/bbl
@JacoKleynhans Not sure I agree. The futures price is totally disconnected from the physical price. Crude is currently trading at a premium of around $55/bbl to the futures price. In reality crude is somewhere between $160-170/bbl. Add freight of around $10/bbl to that.
@DPWorldTour INSPIRATIONAL !!! Given me a whole new perspective on how hard these guys work to overcome so many obstacles. You go you good thing. RESPECT !!!
@afneil I agree @afneil. I am sat here trying to digest this and come up with some sensible response to our Dear Liz. Words and thoughts utterly fail me. I guess we see the book next to Katie Price's 39th autobiography at Lidl in 3 days time. Marked down to the princely sum of 99p.
@hoyer_kat@spectator Brilliantly written. On point, articulate. P.S. Please ask the Spectator to update your bio at the bottom of the article. "Katja Hoyer is an Anglo-German historian, her latest book is Blood and Iron: The Rise and Fall of the German Empire 1871โ1918." BEYOND THE WALL is the latest
@afneil@afneil is quite correct here. Oil is part of absolutely everything in our daily lives. Without oil, the NHS would collapse, simply because the alcohols produced from crude and gas form the basis for most medicines.

Big day finally arrived. 2 Copies collected today in London. One copy to head to South Africa later this month for Ma's 80th. Best gift for someone who was born in the GDR. A massive shout out to @hoyer_kat for making this work. The way all my requests were handled was next level
@hoyer_kat One of the most interesting companies founded in Germany was/is BASF. The stuff they have invented is amazing. Taken over from the likes of Dow, Du Pont and Union Carbide as the world's largest chemical company. Everything we use in daily life contains something produced by BASF
@hoyer_kat@kings_eis@PenguinUKBooks Gutted to miss this. My Mother was born in East Germany in 1943. Her birthday is on 26 April so I will be attending her 80th. Any chance I can get a signed copy beforehand to give to her as a gift ?
@hoyer_kat@FT@ftweekend This is what I like about Katja, narrative and facts are clear, concise and with clarity versus academic type waffle. These articles encourage people to read and educate themselves and not labour through massive jargon and other types of hifalutin speak. Please keep going Katja
@theJeremyVine In the West we fought hard to defeat agencies like the Stasi etc. But here you are acting in the same way as these vile agencies did by reporting petty little trivialities. Get a life. Oh, and grow up by the way. Snitches are Bitches.
