I’ve seen his name being thrown around. If he’s available at a reasonable price, you pounce. The upside is still at least a power winger who can chip in 15–20 goals with opportunity, with room for more. Looking at you @CanadiensMTL. #GoHabsGo
$11.3M × 6 years.
Same 9.5% cap hit as Dobson.
UFA at 32.
Seven years of Marchenko and Demidov together.
Make him part of the family. Best culture in the league. He’ll be treated like royalty.
Let’s get this done.

I still see Habs fans hoping for a trade to bring in a 2C. It’s not happening. The organization has clearly chosen to bet on Michael Hage, who should arrive at the end of the season. Until then, you roll with what you have. Case closed for now. Patience. #GoHabsGo
The Canadiens don’t necessarily want a status quo offseason. But the fact they can still improve without really doing anything makes it easier to be patient, and if that means a status quo offseason, then so be it. They’ll be fine.

Peter Stastny defected from behind the Iron Curtain in 1980, risking everything and paving the way for future generations of Eastern European stars. He immediately became one of the NHL’s best players, setting the rookie scoring record and scoring more points in the 1980s than anyone not named Wayne Gretzky, all while playing a complete 200-foot game, never cheating for offense and without the benefit of a dynasty or star-studded supporting cast.
Had he not spent his prime in Quebec City, he’d be remembered as one of the greatest centers in NHL history and a true hockey legend. History has quietly forgotten him because of where he played.
The greatest careers aren’t always remembered the way they should be.
Peter Stastny is THE most underrated player in NHL history.
I love some of the hardcore #GoHabsGo fans on here getting angry at Hughes not doing anything.
Uh, he's not doing anything because he has the perfect team. I would literally trade any team for his team. He has the perfect mix of young players on the roster, young players coming, on-ice success that is only getting better. Why mess with that?
Just sit down.
NHL teams value elite compete more than is commonly perceived.
It’s one of the most translatable traits in hockey. Players who have it tend to maximize the rest of their toolkit, which is why they so often outperform expectations.
I think that’s one of the main reasons high-compete players so often come off the board earlier than expected.

Lars Steiner should have been off the board a long time ago. I had him ranked in the second round. Tremendous value at this stage of the draft.
He may not have the flashiest toolkit, but he consistently finds ways to impact the game. His work ethic, shot and willingness to play through traffic give him a real chance to outperform this draft slot.
171. Lars Steiner, RW

At this point, Carter Casey is shaping up as one of the potential steals of the draft. 20 goaltenders projected below him on my board have already been selected so far. His athleticism and raw tools are among the best in the class, and if a team can refine the details of his game, the upside is considerable.

Well, I’ve officially hit my daily posting limit on my @NHLDraftRanking account, so I’ll be covering the rest of the NHL Draft from here until the end of the day.

Team-friendly deals. Cap space.
They just went to the Conference Final as the youngest team in the NHL while playing the two most exciting series of the playoffs before the Cup Final.
Not sure people realize how ridiculous Montréal’s outlook is.
Can’t wait to see how management shapes this team over the next decade.
