"The PNGEC has developed a secure results management system to record and publicise preliminary and progressive results digitally on the results website.
The website shows results data that comes directly from our counting centres across the country

This system complements and reflects the paper results forms, which are the legal record of the results, and are completed and signed at the counting centres by electoral officials and scrutineers.

Results data is transmitted through a tablet-based application used at the counting centres, uploaded to an election results portal, stored on a dedicated and secured server at the PNGEC , and displayed on the results website.

The PNGEC's National Election Coordination Centre reviews and verifies the results data to ensure it matches the signed counting forms, which are sent as an image from the counting centres.

This verification process takes time and will not be as fast to publish as media or other sources due to the need for confirming accuracy."

This afternoon, the Head of State upon advice from the Electoral Commissioner signed the instrument to extend the date fixed for the return of writs from today 29th July at 4:00pm to 5th August 2022 at 4:00pm.

The instrument has since been published in the National Gazette no.G597 date 29th July, 2022.
Effectively, this means that the Writs for the #2022NGE will be returned to the Head of State on the 5th of August, 2022.
