Today, I walked out of a room that had been filled with hope, effort, machines, prayers, and the heartbeat of a little one we tried so hard to save. A little boy whose tired eyes still told us he was fighting. We gave him every medicine, every intervention, every ounce of what modern medicine and human compassion could offer.
But it was not enough.
Afterward, I sat in silence. Not because I had nothing to say, but because no words could fill the space he left behind. The monitors are quiet now, but my heart is not. I cried. Not the kind of tears people expect from someone in scrubs, but the kind that come when you feel you have let someone down, even when you know deep down you did everything possible.
Sometimes, no matter how hard we fight, the ending has already been written. Maybe his time here was always meant to be brief, but meaningful.
To the nurses who never left his side, to the team who fought until the very end, and to his family, who gave him a lifetime of love in just a few short years — I grieve with you.
We do not forget. We carry these children with us. Their stories become part of our own. And we keep going. Not because we are unshaken, but because we believe that every child deserves a chance. Even when the outcome breaks us.
So if you are reading this, and you wonder whether what we do matters — it does. Every small act, every kind word, every sleepless night, every tear — it all matters.
Because in the end, the measure of our work is not just in the lives we save, but in how deeply we care for the ones we cannot.
And that is what keeps us going. #pedsicu #pedsCICU #pediatrics #MedTwitter
Never in my 30 years have I heard about DEI as much as I have in the last 10 days. What the fuck is wrong with these people. The country is in a clusterfuck and you’re worrying about diversity and inclusion?!
I feel like I’m actually not even experiencing real life rn
1 person dies under Biden it’s the end of the world.
64 die under Trump
“Now is not the time to politicize things.”
I despise you people so much.
You don’t give a damn about humans losing life, unless the tragedy benefits you.
