I am beyond excited to announce that ggplot2 4.0.0 has just landed on CRAN.
It's not every day we have a new major hashtag #ggplot2 release but it is a fitting 18 year birthday present for the package.
Get an overview of the release here: https://t.co/lhYFiLT3zN
Really excellent work here! Random forest and XGBoost are overused, overhyped, and likely lead to worse decision making than if not used. That these are to facilitate “precision medicine” is a misunderstanding of the techniques and curse of dimensionality @RWJE_BA@f2harrell
@f2harrell Yes using a function is much more readable, data.table has some built in optimized fast functions but in this case base R is sufficient thanks for sharing!
I'm pleased to announce the release of scales 1.4.0 for #rstats. While scales mainly exists to serve #ggplot2, this release packs a bunch of improvements that is good to be aware of.

@Gebran_Bassil Not attending the funeral of those who protected you to be shadow president, while you covered up all their crimes towards the Lebanese people, won't erase who you are...
@trumanfrancis I’m seeing less and less appropriateness of time-to-event analysis as patient outcomes are more complex and rich than that (including up and down responses over time), so I’m using Markov state transition models more. But for causality I refer to experts in g-estimation.
@Gebran_Bassil In a real democracy one deputy become independent when he is out of a party. Also elections are redone at any moment should no clear majority can form a government. You teach people how to run a country without a government and how to be undemocratic. Wake up people
I've updated my template for @quarto_pub statistical reports using R: https://t.co/5dtiuclD0F #rstats#Statistics . Thanks to @vandy_biostat Max Rohde for starting this template and introducing me to Quarto
We have a new nlmixr2 blog entry courtesy of Hitesh Mistry (@HilsethMistrov) and Nicola Melillo (@NicolaMelil) detailing how to upscale nlmixr2 using AWS. This is helpful for long running SAEM models. In the future it may be even more interesting with other methods parallelized.
#DigitalHealthAfrica2024 Clarence Mbanga from DAC-A provides shocking statistics on the number of clinical trials which are ineffective and may represent missed opportunity. The DAC-A review process provides a structured constructive review to enhance quality
#DigitalHealthAfrica2024@POPPKPD gives a clear overview of how PK modelling has developed since 1977 to now be able to inform precise dosing for clinically complex individuals. Further development of #AI alongside these approaches should help streamline clinical decision making
