@DerSturmer555@ShitpostRock The English identity already existed before the Danes invaded England. The earliest mentions of England and the English as a single people is by Bede.
@frickybricky123@James32980438 To be fair, some people actually did do that in the hope that their legal opposition or the state wouldn’t order men to force the issue which usually ended with a ‘we’re taking everything and enslaving you’.
@wrenhelios@jordanhknight_ Pauline doesn’t believe any of the shit she says, she’s flip flopped on speeches prepared for her being anti immigration to her real thoughts where she doesn’t care. ON is a libshit party that nearly exclusively serves senile boomers
@DieBuster07@ShitpostRock It’s a stock complaint about literacy in antiquity. Plato, and subsequently later writers thought of the rise of literacy as being detrimental to memory. Although this was far more a legitimate complaint in Plato’s time, and not the highly literate society of Seneca
@ShitpostRock This was a common belief since Plato, that writing was detrimental to memory. Plato complained about it but memory training was still normal amongst Roman elites even into the 5th century. Seneca is basically doing a ‘kids these days’ bit.
@_sn_n >One Nation
>Far Right
They are libshsits pretending to be le based immigrant deporters (which they will never do). Their only allegiance is to old boomers at the cost of all else.
@joshiereeder@4xCaliban They did not consider themselves to be English. Norman and Angevin were still the primary identity until the 13th century for much of the English aristocracy
@orpean6771@TheLastKekker Into Egypt proper? No, not really. The Egyptians actively attempted to stop nomadic peoples from entering, and later so did the Romans.
