Železniční dopravci platí za každý metr nástupiště, kdežto silniční doprava je v ČR tak silně dotovaná státem, že si tady za pár kaček může jezdit kdo chce kam chce. A musel to ve zprávě napsat NKÚ, jinak by to tady prostě nezaznělo.

"If you as a society want to be able to deal with problems of this shape—which deepfakes are a specific example of and which AGI is another example of—we have to be able to target the entire supply chain", I say in TIME. (link in reply)

Deepfakes are already a widely acknowledged, serious harm to our society right now. The support for regulation is overwhelming.

But what can we do and how can this help with the larger issues posed by advanced AI?

"If you impose a cost upon society, it should be up to you to foot the bill."

Liability across the supply chain is necessary for addressing and properly pricing complex harms like this.

In liability law, it is important to put the cost on the actor that is best place to address the harm. This is why we hold car manufacturers accountable to develop safe cars and seatbelts, not the consumer. Similarly, the cost of the risk from AI should be paid by the mega corporations building and deploying this technology, not the end user and society at large.

It's not the governments' job to pay for corporations' safety R&D and develop safe products, it's the corporation's job to develop safe products or else the government intervenes.

And if you can't figure out how to build a product that is safe enough that society accepts it at a reasonable price?

And it's a class of problems that our society is currently not dealing with well, and we need to deal with it well, if we want to have a hope with AGI."

We need to be able, as a society, to keep ourselves accountable when unconscionable externalities and risks are being placed upon the unconsenting population.

And yes, I would consider "double digit percentage chance of extinction" (as many experts/CEOs have stated) to be firmly in the "unconscionable" range.

The facts are very clear: The general public does not want AGI. They don't want deepfakes, they do not want any of this. And the people should have a say on what is done to their planet and society.

We should listen and build the society that people actually want, not what is most convenient for a small number of corporations and their short term bottom line.

And what about those that claim that we should accelerate further and double down?

"this is like saying, we should take the steering wheel out of the car, and add a bigger motor, because then we can get to our destination faster. But this is just not how anything works in the real world. It’s childish. To get to our destination, going fast is not sufficient, you also have to target correctly. And the truth is that we are not currently targeted to a good future. If we just continue down this path, sure, we could go faster, but then we're just going to hit the wall twice as fast.

Projekt Železnice bez plastů nezůstal na papíře. Našli jsme partnera, se kterým v první fázi instalujeme automaty na filtrovanou vodu ve 12 stanicích po celé zemi. Startup Lokni má s nimi již řadu zkušeností, denně službu využívá více než 150 tis. lidí v kancelářích nebo ve školách. Cestující si po nainstalování aplikace budou moct zdarma natočit půl litru kvalitní vody. Výsledkem bude úspora desítek tun plastu ročně!
