但凡 我是说但凡C-137 Beth存活，Rick都应该会留下来（按着他以及Diane的意愿）顾家陪着她长大… 至少我是这么想的。

假设Diane真的是特警/警方相关的职位，她其实应该要比Rick更有死的觉悟。Rick疑似只是给政府打工（提供技术支持），然后自己私下搞了传送门相关的研发。大概是警察和工程师的区别，单从职业来讲这两者对死的理解差异就很大。

如果这个假设成立：
对Diane而言应该是“即使自己死了，也会希望家人能好好活下去”，但身为工程师的Rick则是希望“在最大程度的避免这种事态的发生”。
所以Diane可能早就学会了如何面对自己的死亡，但学会如何面对Diane死亡将是Rick一生的课题。
