The University of Manchester Proton Therapy Research Group (physics, biology, engineering & modelling). A dedicated Proton Research Room
@TheChristieNHS
Hello Twitter! After an accidental break, we are back posting on this account. We were temporarily over at @PRECISEProtons, but you can find us back here from now on!
Thanks for following along with me today. As you can see, my day consists of many different pieces of work. Each day is a little different, but the variety definitely keeps things interesting.

John here again: to end off my day, I'm working on a grant application for major programme funding. This grant could potentially fund several team members along with the necessary resources, to continue their ground-breaking research.

In between responding to urgent emails this afternoon, I'm reviewing an internal paper written by a colleague about our Research Room, for comments before it gets published.

It's @jw_warmenhoven here, you're following a day in my life as a Research Room Experimental Coordinator and Clinical Service Liaison, and Research Fellow with @OfficialUoM. Lunch with the team on a Monday is always good, it's a great time to catch up @TheChristieNHS cafe.
We have our weekly PRECISE team meetings on Monday afternoons. Typically we review standing agenda items and then each week we have a presentation from a member of the team. This helps everyone stay connected and up to date on what's happening within the team.
As part of this project, I'm working closely with the Research Room Engineers to manage the workflow of the upgrade modifications. We've also just gotten our upgraded @dw_scientific Hypoxia cabinet back so I'm working to re-calibrate our robot, BRUC;E!

Today we're following Dr. John-William Warmenhoven, Research Room Experimental Coordinator and Clinical Service Liaison, and Research Fellow to see what a day in his life looks like working within the PRECISE team and research.

Every Monday morning we have a planning meeting for the Research Room where we look at upcoming experiments, discuss projects, and review ongoing works. We've had a bit of disruption in the Research Room recently due to a major change project.
It’s Starlab Sustainability Week and we headed over to learn about how to be more sustainable using tips in the lab, plus we got a free cactus by reusing our tip boxes! Thanks Starlab! 🌵♻️
Today we held an Advanced Radiotherapy Scientific Showcase ⭐️
Researchers highlighted ongoing projects across the five programmes of research within this theme.

Amazing to see Manchester's Professor Caroline Dive on the @BBCBreakfast red sofa on Sunday morning 🌅
So brilliant to see Manchester cancer research being spoken about on the big screen 📺
