Nigeriaโs revenue surged 49% in the first five months of the year, exceeding government projections as an overhaul of the tax system and new levies on industries including petroleum and mining boosted collections. https://t.co/c0II3HRuJL

FG DECLARES NATIONAL LEARNING ASSESSMENT WEEK, SET TO CONDUCT MAIDEN NATIONWIDE LEARNING ASSESSMENT
The Federal Government has declared Monday, 29th June to Friday, 3rd July, 2026 as National Learning Assessment (NLA) Week as Nigeria prepares to conduct its first-ever National Learning Assessment across the thirty-six States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The assessment is designed to generate reliable data on learnersโ achievement levels and provide evidence to support educational planning, policy reforms, resource allocation, and improved learning outcomes nationwide. The exercise is strictly diagnostic and will not be used for promotion, placement, or certification purposes.
Preparations commenced in 2025 through collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Education and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), with support from UNICEF and the World Bank. Assessment instruments have been developed, pilot-tested, and personnel trained.
The exercise will be conducted in sampled schools nationwide and will cover learners in Primary 3, Primary 5, Junior Secondary School 2 (JS2), and Senior Secondary School 2 (SS2). Subjects include English Language, Mathematics, Basic Science and Technology, and Citizenship and Heritage Studies.

@channelstv When are we going to be serious in this country? If the President wants to visit the families of those kidnapped, then you may have a point. But intelligence matters, and our security agencies are reportedly closing in on the criminals. Donโt distract us please.
@tvcnewsng The Gov of Oyo State needs to put politics aside and get serious. If Gov Makinde is truly committed to leadership and the safety of our people, he should be working 24/7 with all security agencies until those held in captivity are rescued.

World Bank List Tincan & Apapa Portsย on Global Top 20 Improved Ports.
The continuous improvement paradigm of the Dantsoho-led Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has received global recognition, as the World Bank, in its Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) for 2025, released in June 2026, listed Tincan Island Ports Complex and Apapa Port Complexes in the Top 20 Port Improvement category.
The Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) provides a consistent, data-driven measure of global port efficiency by focusing on vessel time in port. It enables comparisons across ports and over time, helping identify where performance is improving and where challenges remain.
This development is coming on the heels of the NPA's frontline contribution to the sustenance of the National Trade Surplus through its provision of the platform for Nigeria's successive attainment of trade surplus year-on-year since 2024, and most recently N7.54 trillion in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Responding to the reports, Dr. @AbuDantsoho said "With the investor-friendliness of President @officialABAT providing the gravitas needed for increased investment to implement our port infrastructure and equipment modernization drive coupled with the unflinching support from the Honorable Minister @FMoMBENigeria, @GboyegaOyetola, we have all it takes to advance the fortunes of trade and boost the national economy".

The Senate, @NGRSenate has passed the UBEC Amendment Bill, raising education funding from 2% to 5% of the Consolidated Revenue Fund and expanding free, compulsory education to Senior Secondary School.
The next step is harmonisation with the HOR and presidential assent.
The promise is kept, but the work is not done yet.
