Etsy’s latest update now flags address issues, but there’s still no practical way to fix them. In this case, my customer confirmed that the apartment number was missing, yet USPS is somehow attempting delivery again to the same incomplete address. The package will most likely end up being returned to me.
UPS is a separate issue. Despite being a private company, if there’s an address problem, packages can easily get lost in their system. I understand USPS is a government agency, and you would expect a quality difference between the two, but seeing UPS operate this poorly as well is very disappointing. These shipping issues genuinely hurt small businesses like mine. @UPS@USPSHelp
A major shipping issue for Etsy sellers: we ship the package, but with @UPS/@USPS we’re treated as a third party because the label is purchased through @Etsy. We can’t quickly fix even simple address issues. We recently lost a package and money because of this. Etsy and carriers need a better system for sellers to intervene directly.
I’ve spent nearly a month trying to resolve this @UPS shipping issue. I’ve called repeatedly and spent hours on the phone. Because the label was purchased through @Etsy, UPS treats Etsy—not me, the actual seller and shipper—as the account holder. I’m repeatedly asked for a UPS account number I don’t have.
This was a ~$1,200 custom order that took a full day to produce. I filed a claim, but it was quickly closed with only ~$100 compensation, despite the package being insured. Small sellers need a way to quickly correct address issues and manage claims directly. @Etsy@UPS@USPS — please improve this process.
The customer entered the wrong city AND ZIP code. I tried to correct the address while the package was still in the carrier network, but couldnt get it resolved. Etsy tells me to contact UPS; UPS tells me Etsy is the account holder. As a seller, I’m stuck in the middle with no direct control.
@Etsy We really appreciate the improvements you've made to the custom order experience over the past few months. The recent interface updates have made managing custom orders much easier. Shopify and Amazon have been ahead in this area for a long time, so it's great to see Etsy investing in these tools as well. Thank you for listening to custom sellers and continuing to improve the platform. #EtsySeller #CustomOrders
About 1.5 years ago, buyers could send images in their very first message, and it worked much better for custom orders. Since that update, requiring sellers to reply before buyers can upload an image has made the process slower and more frustrating for both buyers and sellers. We hope Etsy will reconsider this change.
@Etsy Please allow buyers to send images in their first message again. Custom sellers need to see the design before the customer places an order. Requiring the seller to reply first only delays communication and creates unnecessary confusion. This change has made custom orders much harder to manage. #EtsySeller #CustomOrders #FeatureRequest
@Etsy We need a better order status for custom orders. Sometimes we're waiting for the buyer's reply, but Etsy's processing deadline still expires. Marking an order as shipped isn't the right solution and confuses customers. Please add a "Waiting for Customer Response" status with an automatic notification to the buyer. This would greatly help custom sellers. #EtsySeller #CustomOrders #FeatureRequest
@Etsy@EtsySuccess@etsystatus@Etsy I know how to manage my sale settings, and this isn't caused by my discount configuration. Why is Etsy automatically applying a discount to a newly created custom payment link without my approval?
@Etsy@EtsySuccess@etsystatus Please add an easy way for sellers to report bugs. Current issue: prepaid return labels open as a blank page for customers instead of the PDF.
In custom embroidery, not every design can be produced. Necessary cancellations shouldn't automatically hurt seller performance. This is one area where Etsy does a much better job supporting custom businesses.
As a custom embroidery seller, Etsy has been the easiest and most seller-friendly marketplace for us. Custom products sometimes need to be canceled because not every design works within embroidery limitations. Etsy understands this better than most platforms.
One challenge with Amazon and eBay for custom product sellers is that when an order must be canceled or refunded due to design limitations, seller metrics can be negatively affected.
The 400-variant limit becomes a real problem for custom hat sellers. Styles like Richardson 112 have many color options, and embroidery pricing changes based on location selections. Shopify solved this issue. Hopefully Etsy will consider a solution as well.

Suggestion for Etsy Shop Manager:
A small seller notes panel on the dashboard would be a huge help. Order notes often get buried when managing many orders. A visible notepad for reminders, urgent tasks, and customer follow-ups would make workflow much easier.
