The findings suggest Ötzi is “not a static relic, but a dynamic biological system,” Frank Maixner, who directs the Institute for Mummy Studies, says in the statement. https://t.co/wkPUfRaHmj

🪶 1976 Mt. Shasta Logger Encounter: A Credible Close-Range Bigfoot Report 🏔️
On Friday morning, September 3, 1976, logger Virgil Larson, 47, from Salmon, Idaho, had a startling encounter on the lower southwest slopes of Mount Shasta — just south of Cascade Gulch. 👣
Working a helicopter logging operation, Larson and his partner Pat Conway had hiked down a steep slope from their pickup to the log landing. Around 8:30 a.m., they took a break and separated slightly among the trees — still within earshot.
Larson was relaxing when he heard heavy footsteps. Expecting a U.S. Forest Service inspector, he looked up and saw a figure about 15 yards away. He shouted a greeting. The figure stopped, turned its head, but said nothing. It moved a few yards and ducked behind a bush.
Larson shouted again. The creature raised its head above the bushes. From the chest up, it was clearly not human: roughly 7 to 7.5 feet tall, with black, dirty hair starting at the eyebrows and covering the head.
What hit him hardest was the overwhelming stench — “like a half-rotten bear hide.” Fear took over. He ran.
When the men returned later, the foul odor still lingered strongly. They armed themselves with heavy limb clubs and radioed authorities. Deputy Sgt. Walt Bullington and Forest Service personnel investigated. They found one discarded club but no clear tracks in the logging debris.
The Mount Shasta Herald reported it straight on September 9: a “huge, strange, bad-smelling creature” that remained unidentified. No hoax evidence surfaced.
Larson, a 30-year woods veteran, wasn’t seeking attention. His wife confirmed he was genuinely shaken. This case stands out for its immediacy and lack of sensational claims — just a raw daylight encounter with classic Sasquatch traits: massive size, foul odor, and elusive behavior.
Here we have a raw, no-frills report of a clear daylight encounter, presented exactly as it happened. No photos, no blurry cell phone video, no physical samples — just the straightforward description you’ve just read.
These are exactly the kind of reports that are hard for me to dismiss. I remember the 1970s and the heavy ridicule people faced for believing in ghosts, goblins, or anything unexplained. Think Steven Greenstreet on steroids — that was the default attitude back then.
There was no good reason for a seasoned logger like Virgil Larson to invent this story.
I believe this really happened exactly as he described it. What do you say? 👣
