As we've testified before Congress numerous times, interdicting online trafficking of child abuse imagery is the single most effective sexual abuse prevention strategy ever devised.
Or we can wait for the victims to come forward years from now...
"To get money for anything you have to be willing to horse trade and spend your own political capital,” PROTECT’s Grier Weeks tells the North Jersey Record.
“And at the end of the day, I hate this expression, but children don’t vote.”

To be clear, @SenGreenstein and @GovMurphy:
@NJSP has located 1,000s of suspects engaged in trafficking child abuse imagery in your state. At least 55% are hands-on abusers w/local victims.
De facto NJ policy? Leave them at large. Stopping it costs too much. @dracioppi
Every year, over 26,000 kids “age-out” of #fostercare. Without support, many end up #homeless, trafficked, or pulled into the criminal justice system. We can’t abandon these kids.
We know you're stressed out by the elections and the pandemic. But the work of protecting and helping children has to go on.
Do yourself a favor and carve out a little time in the next few days to learn about an amazing, positive new project at PROTECT: https://t.co/kmSAUYw6HP
We're putting together volunteers for an effort called New Team/New Mission. Our first project will be building small housing units, partnering with nonprofits that provide supportive services.

deeply grateful to sam for taking the time to speak to me about child sexual abuse imagery. we recorded this months ago but the episode was held due to … well news… however it’s as important as ever and unfortunately remains very timely.
Survivors have a right to face their rapists outside the justice system in #transformativejustice processes if they choose.
But children have no place in mediation-style programs with their abusers. They are vulnerable victims, who haven’t had a chance yet to become survivors.
While these advocates avoid mention of children, some "transformative justice" advocates propose (and may in fact be) putting child victims into mediation-type sessions with their abusers. PROTECT has a long history fighting that too: https://t.co/PuC8n9om6X
For two decades, PROTECT has fought diverting rapists from the justice system. Now the other side is riding a huge reform wave. Their case? Sex crimes units suck. But incarceration only perpetuates violence anyway. Give the $ to nonprofits. And get survivors and rapists talking.
my latest: experts say ‘defunding the police’ could offer sexual assault survivors a different path for justice. a thread (1/x) https://t.co/zZiCDKT7OU
Thank you @RepMarthaRoby for pressing the issue of child exploitation with AG Barr today!
Your last battle in Congress could be your greatest. We believe @RepCartwright will join you. Appropriate full funding for the ICAC task forces, and child rescues will go up by thousands.
In Minneapolis, people never cared much about how Mike Freeman refused to stand up to sexual violence. Now he's finally gotten everyone's attention as the prosecutor who'd watch his city burn before he'd arrest a rogue cop for murder. Maybe it's time for a closer look.
Attorneys for Epstein’s victims say they will appeal next to the full 11th Circuit court.
If this ruling stands, Congress will need to go back and redraft a Crime Victims Rights Act for Dummies. (4/4)
Victims of Jeffrey #Epstein just lost an appeals court battle for crime victims rights.
Newly appointed 11th Circuit Judge Kevin Newsom argued there’s a huge loophole in the federal Crime Victims Rights Act. (1/4)

In a devastating and colorful dissent, Judge Frank Mays Hull asks “how in the holy name of plain text” the court could get it so wrong. The decision, she argues, opens the door wide for prosecutors and attorneys for wealthy defendants to work secret deals “pre-charge.” (3/4)
