@sophiearumble They sell as many as they can at the high price to cover costs then give batches of tickets to agencies to fill up remaining seats, create atmosphere and generate bar income.
Tried local theatre? We put 10 great shows a year on with a mix of shows. It’s only £14 a ticket.

@sophiearumble I volunteer with a theatre and it’s expensive to put a show on. The costs of building sets has doubled since lockdown. Ours are simple sets but I dread to think of the cost of a high tech one for the west end. Shows tend not to do so well if they don’t have a big name star.
