PRS for Music today announces the appointment of Ben McOwen Wilson as Chief Executive Officer. He will take up the role on 12 October. Ben joins at a pivotal moment for the music industry, bringing a proven track record of navigating complex digital transformations and championing creator rights.

Ben brings more than 25 years’ experience across the creative industries, seeking to drive innovation at the intersection of media, technology, and rights. From his early days launching UEFA’s digital platforms to chairing the UK Broadcasters’ Project Kangaroo during the rise of video-on-demand, he has pioneered how audiences engage with content and advocated solutions that protect and support their creative ecosystems. More recently as an executive leading YouTube and Google Play across EMEA, Ben has championed the rights of digital creators and games developers; an effort that was recognised with him being appointed the first Chair of the Royal Television Society Cambridge Convention from outside the traditional TV industry.

Alongside his executive career, Ben has worked with government and industry through the UK’s Creative Industries Council and the Creative Industries Federation on issues including intellectual property, innovation and growth, giving him a distinctive perspective as PRS continues to champion the interests of songwriters, composers and publishers in a rapidly changing world.

Following an extensive international search, the PRS Members’ Council selected Ben because of the breadth of experience he brings to the opportunities and challenges facing PRS and its members. As AI, gaming, digital platforms and new forms of music consumption reshape the industry, he has spent the past 20 years building partnerships across complex digital ecosystems while working with rights holders, broadcasters, creators and policymakers. The combination of strategic leadership, commercial experience and creator advocacy makes him exceptionally well placed to help protect and grow the value of music for PRS members.
