Dear Young People

If you believe that you are transgender, ok. Get into therapy if for no other reason than you want to be very sure that you’re right.

If your therapist is all affirming, fire him/her. You want to make your own decision based on you alone with complete neutrality from others. You have that right and that power.

Read. Everything. With an open mind. Read anything you can get your hands on from both sides of the argument. Read success stories but read the failures too. Read no less than 50, maybe even 100, of each and take notes so you can weigh them when it’s decision time.

Not understanding yourself, not loving everything about yourself and even despising yourself at times are normal human conditions that most people go through. It’s rarely permanent even though it feels hopeless.

Stop looking in the mirror so much. Stop evaluating yourself and comparing. You’ll find you like yourself a whole lot more than you thought you did.

Puberty blockers aren’t as reversible as they say. Cross sex hormones aren’t as harmless as they portray. Surgery isn’t as simple as it looks.

Don’t let other people get wealthy off of your distress.
