@A_Sapp12 As MS3 my EM resident told me EM is same as FM , just on steroids. He further added “ if you want EM, you got love both FM and Steroids”. 🤡 No wonder I appreciate everyone who loves both as they need to do job I can’t
A professor texts his PhD student:
“Good news! Our paper got accepted to a conference in Hawaii. We’re flying next week!”
The PhD student texts his girlfriend:
“I’ll be away for a week. Conference.”
His girlfriend texts her advisor:
“I’ll finally have time to finish the experiments next week. No one will be distracting me.”
Her advisor emails the dean:
“The results are almost ready. We can submit that major grant proposal.”
The dean calls the professor:
“We need you for an urgent proposal, you can’t go to Hawaii. We need you here.”
The professor texts his PhD student:
“Trip canceled.”
The PhD student texts his girlfriend:
“I’m staying.”
His girlfriend texts her advisor:
“The experiments may take a little longer.”
Her advisor emails the dean:
“It’s too early to submit the grant.”
The dean calls the professor:
“The proposal is no longer urgent. You can go to the conference.”
The professor texts his PhD student:
“We’re going after all!”
For anyone arguing about use of coronary calcium scans, here’s a nice summary of the RCTs. It would be charitable to call them inconclusive. I get that people want to prevent MIs - a worthy goal. But the evidence for this test isn’t there IMO.
All research boycott hype by @DGlaucomflecken tweet
Looks like we want an era when neurologist sees a patient who says “my brain feels foggy.”
Neurologist orders an MRI.
Result: weather report that no one can interpret!

@DrJMarine What should those family’s and patients do who developed cardiomyopathy due to forced COVID vaccination? Data is out and science supports it. These families and patients were mistreated by medical professionals because Fauci had his strong words. Overconfidence? Integrity?
@smkaty@jasonryanmd Implementation sucks but that does not mean research is the problem. Problem is current system does not know how to implement a system where people can be picked based on aptitude. Economically blessed one gets the benefit
@jasonryanmd@jasonryanmd This is the reason research training would have helped. Research training gives a humility because people understand they don’t know everything. Otherwise these days specialists of one field are acting like they got it all 🤡

@jasonryanmd In pandemic, there were doctors claiming vaccines are absolutely safe and there were small but noticeable group doctors opposing vaccine. People in these two groups did not have basic RESEARCH APTITUDE required to understand concept of risk Vs benefits creating this fiasco

A lot of students are starting medical school this month. Try as hard as you can NOT to compare yourself to everyone around you. It will only stress you out. You earned your way in. You deserve your spot. You belong.
Finished a 24 hour call shift.
Patient asked if I could “just quickly check” his lifelong existential dread between the two codes and the broken EMR.
Said I’d put in a consult for Philosophy.
They marked it as non-urgent.

Happy International Left-Handers Day!
Reminder to all right-handed attendings: when the lefty med student hands you the stethoscope, the earpieces still go in your ears 👂 not the patient’s.
