@angelazzarra Bluebeard & Judith talk back & forth the whole time. You might be able to piece together an aria at the beginning when she talks about opening all the windows and then demands the keys to unlock the doors. Would be a lot of work and prob wouldn't work well with piano, tho.
Pauline Viardot's work is totally underperformed! A true renaissance woman, she was gifted singer, pianist and composer. Our next production, Cendrillon was premiered in her salon in 1904 for piano and voices when she was 83 years old. 9/23 & 9/25 performances.
Dawn Padula returns on September 23 & 25 as Armelinde, Cendrillon's high-powered social climbing sister. Just can't get enough of that rich mezzo sound she puts out so effortlessly? Come see Dawn in recital this Friday as part of the UPS Jacobsen Series of Faculty Concerts.
Join us for our next Jacobsen Series faculty recital this Friday, 7:30pm in Schneebeck Concert Hall. This performance features Dawn Padula, mezzo-soprano with Jessica Hall, collaborative pianist with guests David Joyner, piano; Brian Kirk, drums; and Rob Hutchinson, bass.
This month, we are not only producing the work of a woman composer for the first time in PSCO history, but we have also commissioned an original English adaption. NW librettist Mike Heitmann takes a poke at The Bachelor in this modern take on the Cinderella story.
Thanks to everyone who joined us on Friday evening at the Music Center of the NW for our Season Preview. We shared highlights of the upcoming season and show off five talented young singers. Kudos to Dora Barnes, Sophia Emanuel, Juliet Hollifield, Will Schlott and Cary Lee!
