Tonight both Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron spoke to the nation once more. She stole a march by going first, at 6pm.

Gone were her binders of notes and fluster: she sat behind a desk, with a French flag behind her, president-like, and spoke with authority. She didn’t offer solutions, but she didn’t have to.

While looting was still taking place on city streets, she talked of a ‘profound crisis of trust and authority posing a threat to democracy’, which was both true and deeply ironic (Macron kept her out of power by naming her as the threat to democracy).

Then, two hours later, Macron started his personal struggle-session, managing to sound utterly unrepentant, and promising to create an online ‘platform’ where students and teachers could express their grievances — which rather seems to suggest that he hadn’t really been listening to them at all.

Simon Bernard , ce nom ne vous dit rien , c'est le coordinateur de la campagne de Glucksmann , c'est à dire une pièce maîtresse du dispositif .
L'homme n'est pas un inconnu en macronie .
Il fut conseiller du groupe en Marche a l'Assemblee Nationale , puis conseiller au cabinet d'Élisabeth Borne , enfin directeur adjoint du cabinet d'Amelie Oudea-Castera .
Un macroniste de stricte obédience , aura donc la main sur la campagne , d'un type qui se réclame de la gauche .
Il n'est pas le seul dans son genre , dans la garde rapprochée du député européen .
Aurélien Rousseau , Marguerite Cazeneuve , Sacha Houlie , tous sortent du premier cercle de la macronie .
