⭐️Peoria Sunday Morning League Alumni Currently Playing Professional Ball⭐️
The 2014 Peoria Sunday Morning League Rookie of the Year, Mason McCoy (Miller Lite Falcons 2014, 2020), continues to carve out his professional career in 2025. After making his San Diego Padres debut at shortstop last season, McCoy remains one of the most reliable gloves in professional baseball. Known as a defensive wizard, he’s frequently featured on SportsCenter’s Top 10 for his jaw-dropping range and highlight-reel plays in the infield.
In Triple-A El Paso this year, McCoy has been more than steady at the plate as well, posting a .269 batting average with 11 home runs, 54 RBI, 17 stolen bases, and an .803 OPS across 316 at-bats. His consistency earned him another call-up to San Diego in April, and although a finger injury slowed his big-league opportunities, McCoy has remained a vital depth piece for the Padres during their 2025 playoff chase.
San Diego currently sits at 74–57, tied atop the NL West and holding the second NL Wild Card position as the team pushes toward October baseball.
Cole Cook (Pour Bros. Jacks 2016, 2020) has firmly established himself as one of the most dependable pitchers in the Frontier League, and 2025 has been no exception. The left-hander was named to his fourth consecutive All-Star Team, a testament to both his consistency and the respect he’s earned around the league.
In 117 innings of work for the Schaumburg Boomers, Cook leads the Boomers in K’s with 112 and has also posted an impressive 9–4 record, giving his club quality starts and a chance to win every time he’s on the mound. Cook looks to lead the Boomers into the Frontier League Playoffs.
Jarrod Watkins (Crusens 2014, Country Club BBQ 2015) continues to be a steady contributor for the Lake Erie Crushers in the Frontier League. The versatile infielder earned a spot in the 2024 Frontier League All-Star Game and has followed it up with another solid season in 2025.
Watkins is hitting .255 with 83 hits, 4 HRs, and 27 RBIs, providing consistent at-bats and finding ways to get on base for Lake Erie. His combination of defense and steady offense has made him an important piece in the Crushers’ lineup again this summer.
Ethan Skender (Crusens 2014) joined the Gastonia Ghost Peppers of the Atlantic League for the 2025 season and has been a steady contributor in their infield. The versatile defender has handled multiple spots while also producing at the plate, posting a .269 batting average with 12 homers, 57 RBIs, and 72 hits so far this year. His ability to get on base and provide consistent at-bats has made him a reliable piece of the Ghost Peppers’ everyday lineup.
Ryan Vogel (Firehouse Pizza 2021-2023) has made an immediate impact in his rookie season with the New York Boulders of the Frontier League. The former Bradley Brave, known for his blend of speed, defense, and patient at-bats, Vogel quickly established himself as an everyday outfielder and was recognized as the team’s Rookie of the Year in 2025.
In his debut campaign, Vogel posted a .263 batting average with 60 hits, including 10 doubles and 2 home runs, while adding 16 RBIs and showing great plate discipline with 43 walks. He also showcased his speed with 17 stolen bases, giving the Boulders a spark at the top and bottom of the order.
Jake Curtis (Tin Lizard Titans 2023) was signed earlier this Spring by the Chicago White. The former Lincoln Land Logger was fantastic out of the bullpen for the Chicago White Sox Rookie Ball team in the Arizona Complex League. His 22 IP, Curtis has a 2.05 ERA, 4 Saves, and 29 strikeouts earned him a call-up to Single-A Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. Across both teams, he has a combined record of 4-3 with a 4.18 ERA in 47.1 innings, with 5 saves and 57 strikeouts.
