MVAA Y2025 Staff Retreat
The Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA) successfully concluded its highly impactful Y2025 Staff Retreat, held under the transformative theme:
“Transforming Business Processes Through a Change-Ready Mindset.”
This Retreat served as more than a gathering, it was a bold reaffirmation of MVAA’s commitment to operational excellence, digital innovation and a unified organizational culture.
The event brought together distinguished leaders, including members of the Lagos State executive team, heads of partner agencies and participants, for a purposeful engagement on institutional transformation, mindset shift, and strategic alignment.
One of the major highlights was the inspiring presentation by the Permanent Secretary titled “Driving Organizational Alignment: Seeing the Big Picture.” He emphasized that MVAA is at a critical point in its journey toward full automation and digitization, not for technology’s sake, but to strengthen accountability, enhance transparency, and drastically improve service delivery across all touchpoints.
He noted that while the Agency has encountered resistance rooted in old systems and fixed mindsets, the future belongs to those who embrace innovation.
He challenged every officer to “see the big picture”—to align their daily actions with MVAA’s mission and to cultivate a mindset that welcomes adaptation, continuous improvement, and excellence.
The Permanent Secretary outlined clear benchmarks for Y2026, including:
Zero avoidable delays in processing and issuing driver’s licences and number plates
Significant adoption of self-service channels across key services
End-to-end digitization of major processes to eliminate bottlenecks
Seamless, transparent and efficient customer experience
Strengthened revenue assurance through technology-driven traceability
A customer service culture that competes with private-sector standards
A digitally skilled and motivated workforce
These targets reflect MVAA’s ambition to become the new face of public-sector digitization in Nigeria, a transparent, efficient, customer-focused vehicle registration authority that sets standards for other states and emerging institutions across Africa.
Throughout the Retreat, participants engaged in expert-led sessions, practical workshops, breakout discussions, and wellness activities. Staff reflected on current work processes, explored new digital tools and developed actionable strategies to support the Agency’s transformation agenda.
Beyond learning, the Retreat provided an opportunity to connect, unwind, reinforce teamwork and rebuild trust recognizing that mindset, not technology, is the most powerful tool for progress.
The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing the experience as energizing, insightful and deeply transformational.
As the Agency steps into a new operational year, the MVAA family returns to work inspired, realigned, and fully committed to delivering a modern, innovative and citizen-centered service experience.
The journey to a smarter, digitized MVAA has already begun and together, we will build it
