Man on bus to me, a wheelchair user: “Where’s your helper?”
Me: “Don’t have one.”
Man: “You went out by yourself with no helper?”
Me: “I’m good.”
Some disabled people have “helpers” and some don’t.
The notion that disabled people shouldn’t go out without a helper is ableist.
What can be more uplifting than hearing the stories and voices of self-advocates? @PSNImedia shared the series on Empowering People with Disabilities. You can view all of their videos here: https://t.co/brFxcrkfDM
This World Down Syndrome Day, we are recognizing the valuable contributions that people of all abilities bring to our community - like Courtney and Amy! Kind, outgoing, and enthusiastic, these women are making impacts throughout our programs. 💙
The PSNI staff and clients worked hard with our #WorksServices grew to get the #greenhouse ready for the season. All the hard work and determination has paid off and this years greenhouse look amazing.
