This conflict can evolve into multiple directions but for the US it is inherently a trap. It is not possible to militarily invade/ beat Iran. Hence why all their attempts are focused on the narrative to topple the regime (again).

In roughly a week or two the US will run out of missiles in the region and what then? They lost the possibility of a ground invasion by abandoning most of their bases ( an honestly it would have been a mistake anyways).
They will try of course to resupply and use their proxy's in NATO for some assistance, how effective it will be is not clear, it will give them some extra time at least.

That leaves us with the conclusion that the US last resort is to create some opening for insurgence by creating as much chaos as possible. Assassinations are part of it.

Iran needs to brace itself, their only weak point are the powers within.
For Iran it is an existential war, it has to win if it wants to exist in the future. By wining I mean not complete obliteration of the enemy but not to give in and give up.
