Understanding swing path is one of the biggest keys to consistent contact and power.
For a right-handed hitter, the swing should begin with the knob of the bat working down toward the ground and toward the opposite field side of the field (toward 1B for a righty / 3B for a lefty). This movement helps create the “inside-to-out” swing path that allows the barrel to enter the hitting zone early and stay through the zone longer.
The goal is not to spin around the baseball, but to deliver the barrel through the ball with length and direction. When the hands work correctly, the barrel stays connected to the body and unfolds naturally under the chest into extension.
Posture also plays a major role. With proper posture and hip hinge, the bat should work in line with the shoulders. This allows the hitter to match the plane of the pitch, control the barrel, and create adjustability through contact.
A good swing is efficient:
✔️ Knob works down and toward the opposite field
✔️ Barrel enters from the inside
✔️ Bat stays in the zone longer
✔️ Extension happens through the baseball, not around it
This is how hitters create adjustability, consistent contact, and real carry off the barrel.
Had a historical day today. Clips are attached. I went 4-4 with 3 3B and 6 RBI’s. My 8 triples are a PTHS single season record and currently the most by any player in the state this season. I also picked my 100th career strikeout. With 5.1 IP, 10 k’s, and 3 ER.
