This year’s President’s Award was awarded to James Williams, former Director of Public Health @medway_council who passed away earlier this year and is sorely missed across the public health community ♥️

Covid-19 had a huge human cost. To prevent this in future, we must tackle the lack of communication and information sharing between central government and those on the ground when dealing with local outbreaks, writes @felly500@ADPHUK

I am immensely proud that the NHS I work in is one of the most multi-ethnic and diverse organisations in the world.
NHS colleagues and emergency workers from many countries and faiths work around the clock to serve every UK community. You have my utmost appreciation and respect.
A decade of clinical leadership on prevention has passed quickly! @DrRichardPile signing out with a flourish: the case for investing in prevention at scale has been repeatedly landed “ so put your money where your mouth is & invest in doing things differently” 💪👏👏👏 👇
Today's my last day as a clinical lead for @HWEICB. Over 10 years spent working for ICS and CCG. Proud of the work we've done as a #lifestylemedicine team and the legacy we leave with the Living Well Course, inspiring and training others to spread the word and support their patients. My team and I are sad to leave with work still to do but excited to work with others that have the vision and courage to develop this further.
My message to @NHSEngland and ICS's across the country: if you don't recognise and resource #Prevention (and lifestyle medicine), whilst it may be everyone's job, it becomes no one's priority. As anyone who's ever seen a business case presented, "doing nothing" is always the first option. It's also pretty much always the worst one. Please don't settle for this. Do something. Everyone says prevention is better than cure. So put your money where your mouth is and invest in doing things differently. The alternative is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result...which we all know is madness.

16 new Champions ready to make the difference! Great to hear from them on why they’ve joined this programme - some were inspired by the support they’d received from other Champions, all simply looking to help their communities - thank you!

This means they're able to help other families to improve their health & wellbeing by signposting them to services and support 👏🏽
We are seeing the consequences of already ⬇️ 💉rates with outbreaks of eg measles.
✂️ could mean a further decline, likely to impact the most disadvantaged communities most, exacerbating the already ⬇️coverage.
Result = ⬆️people ill with preventable or detectable diseases.

Yesterday, @MayorofLondon announced that primary school children would continue to receive free school meals in 2024/25.
👀Read why we have joined other health leaders in urging #Gvt to commit to funding free school meals to ALL primary school children➡️https://t.co/NdIaDv5dQG
Thank you so much, Mr Mayor, for extending free school meals across London for another year. Now every child in the city, whatever their circumstances, will have access to nutritious food, helping them to thrive. It takes real courage to stand alone and blaze a trail, and Sadiq's bold, brilliant move should be a wake-up call for anyone who is committed to a brighter, healthier future for our kids. This needs to be rolled out across the country. Let's make that happen.
