Flour Bluff ISD is proud to announce William Johnson as the new Head Boys Basketball Coach at Flour Bluff High School. Coach Johnson brings 18 years of teaching and coaching experience to the position, including four years as a head coach, two years as a varsity assistant, and 12 years serving as a junior varsity coach. For the past eight years, Coach Johnson has proudly served the Flour Bluff community. During his time with the program, he has helped contribute to two district championships while playing an important role in building the culture and success of Hornet basketball.
Coach Johnson graduated from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science. In the classroom, William teaches AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2 at Flour Bluff High School. Throughout his career, he has developed a strong passion for mentoring student-athletes, building relationships, and helping young men grow both on and off the court. He credits the many coaches and mentors he has worked alongside throughout his career for helping shape his teaching and coaching philosophies through their leadership, experience, and guidance.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the Flour Bluff community as the Head Boys Basketball Coach,” said William. “It has been a blessing to work with so many outstanding coaches, student athletes, and families over the past eight years. I look forward to continuing the standard and culture of togetherness that has been built within our program and helping young men develop while representing Flour Bluff with class, pride, and heart.”
Coach Johnson and his wife, Cassandra, are deeply connected to the Flour Bluff community. He is a husband and father of three children, all of whom have attended Flour Bluff ISD and are proud members of the Hornet family. Coach Johnson is grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community that has meant so much to him and his family over the years.
