Returning to my roots. Memories of training on here as a 7 year old and attending Lancashire Combination games in the early 1970’s come flooding back.Great to see @Nelsonfc1 commemorating our win over Real Madrid in lounges.Brent Peters reminds I’m @BacupBoro also
Absolutely delighted to receive a copy of this brilliant book by @AshleyJarnoBall and highly recommended.South Yorkshire folk are like us Nelsoners in being down to earth. Loved reading about Bobby Saxton, an excellent Blackburn manager and many others recalled as a kid
Always thought that the disregarded telephone box on Brunswick Street in Nelson was big enough for my fan club convention. Great to see these guys doing so well for themselves in life. They were a pleasure to coach media to and alongside @Chrisirvine we share pride in them
Great catch up with legend Marlon Beresford He reminded me as a keeper he saved 13 out of 25 career pens I reminded him one day after training I’d taken 4 pens at him and had 4 from 4 with my shoes on For the 5th his spring to block me was legendary. 4 from 5 v PL keeper not bad
Always a bounder of the football media first and foremost, but Celebrant Smith is now 800 up in terms of services delivered. I’ve been in a celebrant role for 5 years now,it’s one that is consistently baffling and perplexing,on the other hand it is nice to be regularly asked for
Great to catch up with @deanholdenuk and his dad.@HullCity were excellent defensively against Southampton, largely on Dean’s watch hard to believe 26 years have passed since he did his 1st ever interview with me on @OfficialBWFC TV. Glad he’s doing so well
What a game and what an occasion. So pleased for @Coventry_City and their loyal fans with news of their stadium ownership.especially Being friendly with 2 CCFC stalwarts who stuck with their team during the dark days, they are deserving of the modern upturn.
The global reach of Soccer Saturday is amazing.Out in Natal Brazil 🇧🇷 a security guard in the World Cup Stadium seemed to be excited by my presence.Turns out his son supports Liverpool, studies English on a sports degree, and via some connections watches SS every week.Small world
Is this you, asked a polite voice in the Elland Road press room.Delighted to declare that it was and still being (hopefully) recognisable 30 years on. I actually prefer baldness to having hair. Saving on barbers bills and being regularly mistaken for Buster Bloodvessel are 2 perks
@PeterFi22102940 Done deal Mr F. I insist on a 30 year notice period mind, and in your case and legendary traditions, I’ll represent you as a free prize. Hope you you are keeping well pal 👍👍
700 up as a https://t.co/OP5pxMZMH2 still remains a baffling and bewildering line of work at times, but hopefully I’m doing something right along the way Here to assist if needed. Still loving ❤️ the TV and Radio work as much as ever.
A fascinating video and insight into one of the most iconic UK sports programmes, and really nice for me to make a fleeting cameo on it.Unsung producers, with @JeffStelling @SimonThomasTV and Julian Warren equivalents to Pele,Messi, Ronaldo https://t.co/0xvf5HsW2n
Two Red Rose football legends.I suggested to Clarets hero Ashley Hoskin he show Ollie his 1987 Maradona style goal at Swansea. He duly obliged and won full approval.Great to see Ollie back on form loved going to Blackpool when he was in charge, he did a quite magnificent job there
Just been having a rummage, those were the days alright, full head of hair, exclusive Eric Cantona interview, incredible times in my working life. Have been penning a biography, there are one or two King Eric stories in there.I’m sticking to baldness by the way, much preferred
The legendary Zenden boot. My great friend Gordon Cox and I have often bickered over the validity of his penalty in the 2004 LC Final. Those of @OfficialBWFC persuasion agree with Big Sam,2 touch spot kick and should have been an indirect free kick to Bolton.Great banter
A very pleasant surprise on a trip to Lytham Many Manchester journalists were under the impression that tabloid legend Bill Thornton had passed away earlier this year causing us sadness To see him again and have a laugh was amazing.Word wrongly circulated. Still shocked & pleased
Incredible to have reported on genuine unprecedented football history. Love Paisley and ex Nelson boss Fagan, reported on each of Sir Alex’s 3 in a rows, never envisaged any team making it 4 in a row. What Guardiola has achieved is simply phenomenal. Don’t rule out 5 in a row.
