"Welsh Water faces £44.7m 'enforcement package' for sewage failings."
The most abhorrent part in all of all of this is that Ofwat has just admitted that since 1994 when the sewage treatment regulations were introduced Welsh Water, like every other sewage company in the UK have been breaking the law.
That's 37 years of illegal activity, 37 years of incompetence, 37 years of failure, 37 years of the gross, violent, decimation of our rivers and beaches.
Where's the justice for them, where's the justice for bill players, where's the accountability, why aren't Ofwat's board now being prosecuted for misconduct in public office?

"Picturesque river polluted with sewage just 13 days after being given official bathing status."
Yep the River Avon at Salisbury was designated as a bathing spot on 15th May and just 13 days later on the 28th the EA have to issue a pollution warning due to E. coli levels. What a shambles.

@pbob8419@hotdognotdogs@JamesMelville Yep definitely a pattern forming , yet more slimy bullshit from politicians watch this space (posted by a Grumpy Old Man who’s bloody worried for his gran kids future)
@TWBFarms@PSoffe1 As a retired farm manager I agree with your post. The problem we have is our useless politicians who for the past 20yrs have announced headline catching plans for the environment and green energy. Worst is this trend is continuing with all the political parties
"Environment" and "climate change" are not the same thing. Lumping them together was deliberate, done to panic people into net zero, net stupid.
The environment is the hedgerow, the soil under your boots, the rivers, the insects, the birds, the air you breathe and the water you drink. Tangible. You live in it every day and you value it. Everyone does.
Global warming runs over timescales none of us will ever see. #NetZero just exports our carbon abroad killing our own jobs, businesses and economy in the process.
Scrapping it does not mean we stop caring for the real environment. Farmers never did, and we never will. 👍

Privatisation of water in a nutshell:
They make us pay more
They dump sewage in our rivers
They sell off our reservoirs and build none
But but but… the CEO is paid hundreds of thousands
And the shareholders have been paid billions
Congratulations England, we can’t figure out what 90% can.
Few professions carry a burden as heavy as farming.
Farmers feed everyone.
Every single person.
Every child heading to school.
Every worker beginning a shift.
Every patient in a hospital bed.
Every athlete, business owner, artist, scientist, and leader.
All depend on food.
And food depends on farmers.
Yet many farmers today feel unseen.
They watch costs rise.
They watch regulations grow.
They regularly get punished by governments.
They watch weather deciding the fate of their crops.
They work every single day of the year.
They watch family farms disappear after generations of hard work.
Still they continue.
Not because it is easy.
Because it matters.
Because No Farmers, No Food.
"‘They’re a private company, run for profit!’: fury in Kent at South East Water’s outages."
Cam someone please explain to me why South East Water are still in business, how they still have an operating licence and why the public are still be asked to put up with this nonsense?

Oh here we go again. @YorkshireWater claiming they are "INVESTING" £8.3 billion between 2025 - 2030.
That of course turns out to be completely untrue.
The only money I can see that shareholders are putting into the business is paying back the "loan" they took, by March 2027 and the £100 million they were supposed to pay to help reduce sewage dumping by the end of March 2025.
Every other damned penny of that £8.3 billion, that's £8.2 billion is being funded directly out of bill payers' pockets and not a damned thing to do with shareholders.
Why are water companies allowed to tell such utter lies?
Ofwat?
Some skin these people have. You spent 12 months banging on about how fair you have been to the rural votes. Full of shit and desperate. I hope you got the welcome you only deserve. I respect some of the stuff you’ve done in the NHS but seriously pall, no one will trust you.
@ThrimbyFarms For me it was a DBrown , bale carting they told me foot on clutch , put it in low gear for me and off we went. As my knee started to ache I worked out how clutch and gear stick worked ( must admit I probably had it easy as it was a farm on the Cheshire Plain )
The moment of one of today’s Russian strikes on Kyiv.
I can see that fewer and fewer people are reading news from Ukraine. I understand that on a Sunday morning, people don’t want to read about war. They want to sleep a little longer, drink good coffee, and sit in the sun. I understand that. The algorithms on X limit content about war, destruction, and suffering. You have to make an effort to even see this information.
All of this is understandable on a human level. But unfortunately, if you remove Putin and the war from your information feed, they do not disappear from reality.
Putin is a sadist and a maniac. He is a threat to all of humanity.
There needs to be active resistance. News from Ukraine needs to be shared. People need to keep their focus.
Despite a sleepless night, I’m still here. And I’m grateful to everyone who continues to stand with us.
One day, we’ll drink morning coffee together in a beautiful, peaceful Kyiv.
Too on point not to share. This is great, but too bad the Orange Felon’s enablers won’t let him see it.
This Australian's reply to #Trump's rant about “NATO not being there for America” is perfect.
"Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight. A country where 40% of adults can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive. A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage.
You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven't even been convicted of anything. They're just too poor to make bail.
Your life expectancy is going backwards. You're the only developed nation where that's happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba's. Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker's stock to your mates.
Your minimum wage hasn't moved in 15 years. You've got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that didn't attack you.
And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban thanked you very much for losing again.
And you're calling Greenland poorly run?
Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no.
'NATO wasn't there when we needed them." When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn't even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years.
And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess.
So maybe before you start calling other countries poorly run, have a look at your own backyard, you spray-tanned aluminium siding salesman. The only thing poorly run in this picture is your f----- mouth."
