Competition flight is done ✅ The flight went great with an altitude of 5042 ft and a small drift distance! It was so great seeing everyone’s launches and learning from the other teams! We’re excited to come back next year!
Great first day in Huntsville we’re done with LRR and got to see the Huntsville Botanical Gardens! We’re excited to launch tomorrow! You can watch all the launches tomorrow at the livestream link in our bio. We are in the first volley staring at 10:30 CST! #boilerup
Successful launch this weekend! We reached an altitude of 5300 ft and were able to test our payload system. We’re ready for Huntsville and the rest of the competition!
Video from our black powder testing from before our most recent launch. The team is working on completing FRR currently and is looking forward to the remainder of the competition! #purdueengineering
Footage from the camera in our nosecone from our launch this past weekend! This shows us what happened with our motor failure in flight. We haven’t figured out what was the cause yet but the current theory is an issue with the O-rings.
This weekend PSP-SL had our vehicle demonstration flight. Due to a motor failure we had damage to our lower airframe and airbrake system. The launch did allow us to test our other systems to ensure they were working properly. We are planning to rebuild and relaunch in March!
Avionics team assembling the avionics coupler! This included gluing in a bunch of press-in nuts, attaching the mounting posts to the altimeter sled, and attaching the deployment hardware to the bulkheads which is the eye bolt, terminal blocks and charge wells #purdueengineering
Lots of machining this past week to create the fin spars for our motor fin support structure. The MFSS will be placed on the inside of the lower airframe to hold the fins in place instead of using epoxy. #purdueengineering
Our avionics team was hard at work yesterday completing the altimeter vacuum ejection test! This test uses a pyrex bowl and a wine stopper to pull out the air and simulate ascent during flight in order to ensure our altimeters are working properly. #purdueengineering
First meeting of the semester! We’re so happy to be back on campus and working on our project. Callouts for PSP are this Tuesday at 6:30 in CL50! #purdueengineering
CDR is submitted! Enjoy this video of our subscale launch. We’re looking forward to the remainder of the competition and we hope everyone has a great new year! #purdueengineering
