Full steam ahead! Portishead Railway Line gets final green light! 🚂
After 25 years of campaigning and 60 years of waiting, the Secretary of State for Transport has given the final sign-off on the Portishead and Pill Railway Line with trains projected to run by 2027.
While I have lobbied hard for this project, it would not be proceeding without the tenacity of the Portishead Railway Group and local supporters who have fought for this for 25 years.
'The Kiosk: Boulevard de Clichy.' (1886) It was van Gogh who coined the term 'painters of the petit boulevard,' referring to up and coming artists who were experimenting with avant garde techniques, this included Louis Anquetin, who painted vignettes from Parisian modern life.
@PTAJones@Inteprid_@PolitlcsUK Unfortunately I think so, it's frustrating because the geography of the region means the cost of a feasible transport system is gonna be greater than that of say teesside or Liverpool whom both got greater sums of money despite similiar size. Consider WECA defacto covers NS too
@SamBarnesNS@Inteprid_@PolitlcsUK Actually I’ve probably misunderstood this - it’s the business case approval we’re waiting for and not the funding. And it seems this approval isn’t due until July.
@SamBarnesNS@Inteprid_@PolitlcsUK But does that mean Portishead railway potentially gets the green light today or am I misunderstanding? That would be some good news I guess?

The funding is split by region (see below article for transport projects in each):
Greater Manchester - £2.5 billion
West Midlands - £2.4 billion
West Yorkshire - £2.1 billion
East Midlands - £2 billion
North East - £1.8 billion
Liverpool City Region - £1.6 billion
South Yorkshire - £1.5 billion
Tees Valley - £1 billion
West of England - £800 million

@SamBarnesNS@Inteprid_@PolitlcsUK Do you think the Portishead railway funding is what’s included here? It is disappointing not to see more ambition for the region though.
Anyone have access to the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Communication (online resource) - there's any article ('Space in Rhetorical Theory'

Portishead Railway News🚨
I am incredibly proud to have campaigned for @PortisheadRail since elected in July, meeting with Ministers, Mayor's and Councillors even handing a petition to @UKParliament
This vital infrastructure has been promised for 25 years, now to be delivered.

Just in: 110-year old Viola Ford Fletcher, the oldest survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre voted today in Oklahoma. I’m told she voted for Vice President Harris.
