Wiktoria Zarębczan, a second-year PhD student in History, completed a research stay in London (March 2026), conducting archival research on children evacuated with Anders’ Army. The project supported her work on WWII civilian experiences and collective memory.

From 23–25 March 2026, Sabina Kozłowska (UKEN Doctoral School) joined the International Training School in Budapest. Through discussions and group work, they explored key challenges of deliberation, including a visit to the Hungarian Parliament.

Kinga Banasik conducted a research stay in New York (13–22 March), examining archives at two institutes. She uncovered new materials on Helena Rubinstein’s ties with the Polish-American community, supporting her project on Rubinstein’s media image.

Truong Thi Lan Nhi, a second-year PhD student in Pedagogy at UKEN Kraków, conducted a pilot study in Vietnam funded by PBSD. Under Prof. Joanna Madalińska-Michalak, she published an article and a UNESCO-endorsed book chapter (2026).

On 9–10 March 2026, the 5th National Scientific Conference “Participation in local government” was held at the Royal Castle in Niepołomice. Sabina Kozłowska moderated a panel and served on the organising committee.

Researchers are observing the Rydułtowy Citizens’ Assembly, where randomly selected residents discuss public issues, hear experts, and propose recommendations—offering insight into how deliberative democracy works in practice.

On February 26–27, 2026, the conference “Literary Records of Everyday Life” was held at the UKEN, organized by doctoral students Wiktoria Kulak and Alicja Wosik. Young researchers presented 39 papers on everyday life in literature.

On 20 Feb 2026, the conference “Unobvious Women’s Stories” was held at Pałac Krzysztofory in Kraków. Organized by UKEN in Krakow and partners, PhD students Wiktoria Zarębczan and Natalia Kaszuba presented posters on women and children deported to Siberia during WWII.

On 23 January in Tarnów, a nationwide interdisciplinary conference marked the 120th anniversary of Roman Brandstaetter. Anna Żalińska (UKEN) presented a paper on his family circle using archival sources.

Nikola Rolewicz, MA, a first-year PhD student participated on January 20, 2026, in a lecture titled “Hate – a linguistic phenomenon and legal consequences”, organized by the Equality Committee of the Tarnów Academy in Tarnów.

Nicole Deneka, a PhD candidate in legal sciences, completed a research stay from September to December 2025 at the Competition Law Research Centre of Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest, carrying out a project on EU State aid and competition law.

Cezary Ruchała, a PhD student at UKEN, conducted archival research at the Central Archives of Modern Records in Warsaw, participated in the Donor’s Day at the National Archives in Krakow, and published two scholarly articles in 2025 on regional history and history education.

Seymur Ingilabli, a 2nd-year PhD student at UKEN, presented “From Paper to Pixels: Forged Evidence and the Evolution of Disinformation” at the Need to Know XIV conference (26–28 Nov 2025, Kraków), networking with international scholars.
