Bringing BTEC Business Studies to life this week by exploring the meaning of variable costs through the eyes of the School Business Manager. π
We had a great class discussion around how school rules for chewing/graffiti and damage limit the school's 'running costs' for repairs.
Year 11 GCSE Business Studies this week is focusing on the short, medium and long term sources of finance for businesses.π
We have explored when it would be appropriate to use different sources of 'internal and external' finance for different business projects.
In BTEC Business this morning we have been practising how to answer 6 mark questions to get the most marks for our work.
A good technique is to draw a table as below, and write two points for each factor we are comparing. This enables us to come to a reasoned conclusion. π
In BTEC Business Studies this week we have been learning about the importance of accurate financial records in a small business.π
Accuracy minimises profit loss, maintains reputation of your business and ensures accurate VAT tax returns at the end of the financial year.
Great to see all our form groups getting involved in our #PHSE tutor time discussions this week to mark recognition of #antibullyingweek2021 - 15th November to 19th November. π
Some examples of questions we are asking you to consider with form tutors/student peers are below.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:Β
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

In Year 10 BTEC Business this week we are exploring why some payments methods are preferred by businesses over others.
For example, we explored that debit and credit cards and the most preferred payment methods over cash for their speed and security.
My Year 8 Careers assembly yesterday was all about the link between future earnings/wages and your grades you achieve at school. #ambition#determination
We explored roughly how many 'hours of work' it would take to make enough money to be able to buy a pair of Β£100 trainers.
GCSE Year 11 Business Studies this morning was focused on 'why businesses might need sources of finance'.
Really great to hear student discussions about the different reasons businesses may need finance - from start up to fully established businesses.
Year 10 Careers assembly with me this afternoon was all around planning for and thinking ahead to your 'one to one' careers interviews with a qualified careers advisor.
We talked about what you can expect from your careers adviser and also things can do beforehand to prepare.
