🚔💪 Defensive Tactics Training: Keeping Our Community Safe! 💪🚔
Every day, officers are called to handle situations that can be unpredictable and fast-moving. Defensive Tactics training helps prepare them to respond professionally, safely, and effectively when those moments arise.
This training focuses on communication, control techniques, decision-making, and officer safety, with the goal of protecting everyone involved. By regularly practicing these skills, officers are better equipped to de-escalate situations, reduce the risk of injury, and serve our community with confidence and professionalism.
Training doesn't just happen in the classroom—it requires repetition, discipline, and continuous practice. These sessions ensure our officers are equipped with the skills, confidence, and professionalism needed to serve and protect our community every day.

📱 The Real Risk of Texting While Driving 📱
Bridget thought she had plenty of time to send a quick text as she was driving up to a stop sign... until Community Resource Officer Sagovnovic pulled up right beside her. Suddenly, that text didn't seem so important. Her immediate reaction? Toss the phone down and stare straight ahead like she had never touched it in the first place. Nice try, Bridget. 😅
While this video is meant to be lighthearted, the message is serious: distracted driving can have devastating consequences. Every year, thousands of lives are lost nationwide due to distracted driving-related crashes.
🚨 Disclaimer: This scene was safely staged to demonstrate the dangers of distracted driving. No actual texting occurred while driving during filming.
No text, notification, or message is worth risking a life. Keep your eyes on the road, your hands on the wheel, and save the texting for when you've safely reached your destination.

As the current lead agency for the Arizona Child Abduction Response Team (AZCART), the Paradise Valley Police Department recently hosted a valley-wide, realistic scenario-based training designed to strengthen and refine coordinated response efforts during missing and endangered child investigations.
AZCART is a statewide, multi-agency rapid response team composed of specialized law enforcement personnel and partner agencies who are trained to respond immediately to child abduction and high-risk missing child cases.
This training emphasized the meticulous, detail-driven nature of these investigations and the intense, methodical work responding units must carry out—from rapid information gathering and suspect and vehicle tracking, to digital and physical evidence analysis and coordinated field operations. Participants and role players worked through realistic, high-pressure scenarios that mirrored the urgency and complexity of real-life cases. The exercise highlighted the extraordinary level of precision, communication, and collaboration required to safely locate and recover a missing child, and reinforced the importance of every role within a unified response effort.

Media Release: Arrest of Package Theft Suspect Case Update #2026-16767, 16770, 17066.
Several residents recently reported to the Paradise Valley Police Department that on 5/11/2026, they were the victim of package thefts. All of the victims had very good video surveillance footage of the incidents which linked them all to the same female suspect. The video evidence depicted the suspect arriving with what was later determined to be an empty box (presumably from a prior theft) and switching them out with recently delivered packages. Patrol officers conducted a thorough preliminary investigation which developed a suspect identified as Brieanna Clark. On 5/14/2026, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit conducted
additional follow up and arrested Clark in the 2700 block of E Mountain View in Phoenix, AZ. A search warrant was also executed at which time detectives were able to recover jewelry and other items that were reported as stolen. Clark was transported to the Maricopa County Jail where she was booked on felony theft charges.
If you have had contact with this individual and believe you may also be a victim, please contact the Criminal Investigations Unit at 480-948-7418.

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (April 19–25, 2026) highlights the impact of crime on individuals and communities, and reinforces the importance of ensuring victims are supported, acknowledged, and connected to services that promote healing and justice.
This year’s theme, LISTEN. ACT. ADVOCATE. Protect Victims, Serve Communities., serves as a reminder that meaningful support for victims requires intentional listening, responsive action, and ongoing advocacy.
Listening involves creating safe, respectful spaces where survivors are given the opportunity to share their experiences and are treated with dignity and validation.
Action focuses on providing trauma-informed services, connecting individuals to resources, and removing barriers to support.
Advocacy ensures victims’ rights are upheld and their voices remain central throughout the recovery and justice process.

Today, we are proud to introduce three of our newest supervisors, promoted to the ranks of Corporal and Sergeant.
The promotional process in law enforcement is intentionally demanding. It is designed to identify those who can lead from the front; individuals who demonstrate not only competence, but sound judgment, unwavering integrity, and the ability to make critical decisions when it matters most. Leadership in this profession is not given lightly; it is earned through experience, sacrifice, and a deep commitment to others.
Together, these three men bring over 50 years of law enforcement experience to their new roles. They have proven themselves time and time again, through long hours, difficult calls, and a steadfast dedication to both their teammates and the community they serve.
This promotion is more than a new title. It is a responsibility to lead, to mentor, and to uphold the standards of this department, our beloved community, and the profession every single day.
Please join us in congratulating Corporal Chris Hadley, Corporal Wayne Crenshaw, and Sergeant Curtis Jensen on this well-deserved achievement.
Congratulations to our very own Officer Adam Cook, who has been named the Elks Lodge 335 Officer of the Year. This recognition reflects his professionalism, dedication to service, and the care he shows our community every day.
Officer Cook consistently demonstrates what it means to serve with integrity, compassion, and commitment. Whether responding to calls for service, assisting residents, or supporting his fellow officers, he approaches his work with a steady professionalism that makes a lasting impact.
Officer Cook was honored at the Elks Lodge ceremony alongside his wife, Angela; mother, Charleen; and stepfather, Patrick, with Chief Carney and Commander Beumler also present to celebrate this well-deserved recognition.
We are proud to have Officer Cook representing our department and serving the Paradise Valley community. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Adam. 👏
