Just got off the phone with another player rep for the NGL. Here is what the current situation is:

-7 players are still stranded in Fort Wayne that the rep is aware of.

-Coach Michael Coleman of the Blue Bombers was tasked with helping players, however this hasn't been done.

Something of a plot twist in the NGL saga: I wrote in my story that league president Joe McClendon had told players he had $1.3 million in PPP funds to get the league started. In the last 12 hours, multiple players have told me they've heard he actually had $4.5 million.

As guys reached out and warned Buddy Walters about the NGL he willingly continued to sign players to the national gridiron league.

@PVPrep_ @ngl_football Yeah, he had to cover their trip home. Players and coaches were very excited about playing. But received little to no support from the league itself.

The Blue Bombers HC didn't even have venue information for the bubble. And if I'm not mistaken, no one saw a dime in payment.

The issue that stands out the most to me is how a sources say that the Head coach of the (Virgina Iron horses) @ngl_football and other coaches on the staff lost $3500 out of the their pocket trying to get players home.

If you ask me i think the XFL should leave the CFL alone. Canadian football is great by itself. An XFl and CFL merg isnt called for imo. It doesn't need to be any more political than it already is. If the merge does happen then active, or street free agents are done for.

A discussion between players and league head Joe McClendon over payment became heated and broke up after one of the players and McClendon got in a physical altercation and ended up on the floor, needing to be broken up. A second altercation ensued moments later.

We saw signs of this back in December, and reported it as it happened.

My heart goes out to the players and coaches who have put their lives on hold to chase their dreams only to be left with nothing to show for their efforts.
