During the First World War Captain Christopher Amyand Haggard, of The Queen’s (Royal West Surrey) Regiment and the Duke of Cambridge’s Own (Middlesex Regiment) earned a Croix de Gurre at Villers Bretonneux in April 1918.

In 1685/86 The Queen’s Regiment was renamed The Queen Dowager’s Regiment upon the death of Charles II & the accession of James II. It was renamed again in 1703, The Queen Dowager’s.

Capt. Christopher Amyand Haggard earned this
Croix de Guerre at Villers Bretonneux in April 1918. The #medal was created in 1915 and would be bestowed upon foreign military forces allied to #France.
The bronze star signifies the recipient was mentioned in dispatches.
