At WrestleMania 10, Randy Savage celebrated with Bret Hart at the end of the night.

WrestleMania X ends with Macho Man Randy Savage in the ring, raising Bret Hart’s hand as the new WWF Champion.

Not long after, Savage was gone.

This could’ve been a future WrestleMania main event.

But imagine the other timeline…

Savage stays. He gets tired of being pushed toward the commentary table while guys like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels take over the spotlight. Macho starts believing he’s being forgotten by the company HE helped build.

At first, he’s Bret’s ally.

Then the jealousy starts.

“You may be the champion, Bret… but you never beat the Macho Man.”

Savage turns heel. Bret vs. Savage becomes a major WWF Championship program. Old generation vs. new generation — except Savage is determined to prove the old generation isn’t finished yet.

And eventually?

WRESTLEMANIA MAIN EVENT.

Savage was only 41 at WrestleMania X. There was absolutely still gas in that tank.

One decision changes everything. Savage stays in WWF and maybe the entire New Generation Era looks different.

WrestleMania 11 or even SummerSlam with Bret Hart vs. Randy Savage instead of his feuds with Bob Backlund & Owen Hart.

Watching your parents age is one of the most disorienting realities human beings go through.

They are the fixed points in your universe. The safety net that will always catch you if you fall.

Then one day, the dynamic shifts

You notice the gray hair. The slower walk. The quiet hesitation when they try to use a new piece of technology or understand a changing world.

You realize they weren't invincible. They were just young people who were handed a baby and told to figure it out, silently dealing with their own fears, traumas, and unfulfilled dreams while trying to shield you from them.

The giants who held your world together become fragile people who now look to you for reassurance.

It's strange how the people who brought you into the world eventually have to rely on you to help them quietly navigate the end of it.

Time is far more relentless and far more beautiful than most of us realize.

While boarding my flight home this morning, I talked to a guy who said he had cancer. When he was in the hospital, his brother would come visit him and they would watch WWE together. He didnt watch wrestling before that time, but for that couple hrs, he said he would forget all about his cancer. He has since beaten cancer and last night was the first time he ever went and saw Raw live in person. I thought that was pretty cool and a nice reminder that pro wrestling can truly help people.

While we liked COYOTE VS ACME, modern filmmakers don't seem to get the sensibility of Chuck Jones and Michael Maltese.

It's not just sight gags and violence, there was a wit, intelligence, and pathos that no modern Looney Tunes film seems to grasp.
