B.C. is running up debt faster than any other subnational jurisdiction in North America. 💸

The province’s deficit forecast now stands at $13.8 billion for the year, equivalent to $2,400 in new debt for every single resident of the province. 

‼️ “The figure not only dwarfs the relative debt accumulation of any other Canadian province, but of all 50 U.S. states. The B.C. deficit is so high, in fact, that it will almost exactly match this year’s deficit in Ontario, a province with more than three times the population.”

Any way you cut it, David Eby and the NDP have been a complete & utter DISASTER for British Columbia.

On the meaning of “scooped” — taken from parents by the state — many more Indigenous children are in Manitoba care now than during the sixties.

33% are taken before age 1.

It wasn’t just a sixties phenomenon and it’s not a scoop but child protection.

Chief Roland Willson says he put the letter in David Eby’s hand. Six weeks later the premier told cameras he was not familiar with any error. One of those things is not true. Either he did not read what was handed to him, or he was not straight with the public. Which is it?

West Moberly Chief Roland Willson delivered that letter on July 14. It was signed by the chiefs of four Treaty 8 First Nations. It said the government “appears to have fundamentally misled” British Columbians and its creditors on the natural gas royalty numbers in Budget 2026. It said the same flawed forecast was being used to roll out the new royalty framework. It said the province was “poised to make another massive mistake.” It closed by telling the premier this was his last chance to avoid “a basic and embarrassing mistake that will cost the province billions of dollars.”

Willson says Eby told him the message was received, that his people would look into it, and that they would get back to Treaty 8. They never did.

Treaty 8’s technical staff had already told Adrian Dix in June that the budget data were wrong. On June 29 in Fort St. John, Dix still sold them $2.4 billion more in royalties and said the figure came from Budget 2026.

On Tuesday, August 25, Eby told reporters he was not familiar with any error in the budget related to oil and gas revenues. On Wednesday the Energy Ministry said it had been informed of the error in July.

Dix was told in June. Willson handed Eby a letter on July 14 that said the budget had misled the public and creditors and would cost billions. Eby told cameras on August 25 he was not familiar. His own ministry said the next day it already knew.

Who read that letter, on what date, and why did the premier stand in front of microphones and say he was not familiar with a warning that named the Budget 2026 royalty line, the creditors, and the billions?
