@SqueezySkiddoo Where are you based? It's very pretty, but probably pre-WWII, and these 120 Bass instruments are often in baaaaad shape. Might be better as an ornament in a pub, sadly
@LadyPerinbridge@tombennett71 I disagree. As a student, the only subjects I really paid attention in and worked hard for were precisely the "maverick" teachers, who i felt understood me as a person. It's okay to have some give in any system. Optimising & standardising everything can be pernicious
@j_i_hamilton@mwhiteside@scotnewmus It's a fairly adjacent field, but I think that actors actually have a more brutal experience of rejection than composers do. At least the form filling crap we have gives us a buffer, rather than "sorry yr face & body is just not right, maybe get a new one kthx"
Looking to speak with fellow composers who don't play piano for #britishmusiccollection article - any style, any background, welcoming different perspectives. DM me if you'd like a chat @soundandmusic@Heritage_Quay
@seanlclancy I'm feeling the same Sean. Different sort of teaching for me (I'm in a Lewisham secondary school and doing teacher training through this on-the-job apprenticeship scheme), and it's so hard to carve out any headspace.
