@daveowenbball @gbbasketball That being said, there might be some trends where “better” teams display similar profiles. That’s where the interpretations comes ins. Also in this graph, interesting that GB stay relatively in the same area compared to MNE. Meaning their profile is more consistent

@daveowenbball @gbbasketball No, the plot shows you how (dis)simular teams are from each other, or in this case game 1 to game 2 etc. If you’re in the middle, you are not dissimilar to the comp ‘normal’. The further you are away (in either direction), the more ‘different’ you are 1/2

@daveowenbball @gbbasketball It stands for non-Metric Multidimensional Scaling…. essentially the analysis boils down a range of statistics into two dimensions based on distance measures (nMDS1 and 2) - you can do three, but becomes a little more harder to interpret.

Experimenting with RStudio to analyse team profiles during the @FIBA U18 championships. @gbbasketball profile stands out from other teams and is similar to the Netherlands. However, they do align closely with the typical (average) profile in nMDS2 #datavis #FIBAU18

@antrowe33 @dan_routledge @BristolFlyers Exactly, taking a quick look at the stats across the board and the flyers have done great job. Perfect storm of low turnovers, balance of 2/3 pts shots, getting to the line (not a huge amount but enough) all leading to a high number of FGA per game
