Your (A) run through P2 then over the crossover to Dn CTRL.
Your (B) correct, it is the Werrington Xovers.
As you say, there are solutions, it is just they are not pretty operationally.
You can also install a new crossover.

Also are you saying that the tracks are not bi-directional?

@WilliamBarter1 @SimonCalder You can reverse in P2 or P3 but they are not suitable for international trains.
In theory you could terminate in Plat 1, run westbound to west of the station, immediately reverse through P2 to Dn CTRL. But it is not an easy move.
Or Werrington xovers can be used with wrong line.
