Life is teaching me the law of detachment. enjoy people, moments and blessings while they’re yours but don’t lose yourself trying to make anything stay forever.
that “i’m all cried out, i’m all tired out, i’m all fired out. right now it’s killing me cause now i have to find someone else when all i wanted was you.” always makes me TEAR TF UP 😩
honestly, i think long-distance relationships can create a kind of love that’s completely different. you don’t get to rely on physical closeness all the time, so you learn to fall for the person themselves.
their voice becomes comforting. their messages become something you look forward to. you start paying attention to the little details about them because that’s what you have.
of course it hurts not being able to hold them, kiss them, or simply sit beside them whenever you want. but that distance also teaches you how valuable those moments really are.
when you finally get to be together, you don’t take a single second for granted. because you know exactly what it feels like to miss them.
fortunately, i’m someone who’s okay with starting over. there will always be another lover, another job, another group of friends but never another life.
Ppl have a hard time rationalizing that I mean what I say. Nobody gets to treat me poorly and still get the best of me. Nobody is exempt. Nobody is special. I am the most special to me so mistreating me means you’re getting cut. Period. Idc who you are.
A man who genuinely likes you will not leave you guessing. He will not be hot and cold. He will not disappear for days and return with excuses. He will show up, not perfectly, but consistently. He will not make you feel like you're a burden. He will not make you beg for clarity.
He initiates. You do not have to be the one always reaching out. He texts first. He calls first. He plans. He checks in. He makes you feel like you are on his mind, even when you are not together.
He remembers. He remembers the small things you told him. He remembers what makes you smile. He remembers what you are afraid of.
He does not make you feel like you are asking for too much. When you express a need, he listens. He does not dismiss you. He does not make you feel like you are being difficult. He does not disappear when you ask for more. He shows up.
He makes time. No matter how busy he is, he makes time for you. Not because he has to. But because he wants to. Because you are a priority, not an option.
His actions match his words. He does not just tell you he cares. He shows you. He does not just make promises. He keeps them. He does not just say he wants to be with you. He proves it.
It's genuinely crazy how many of the 90s/00s baddies never married. Mya, Tracee, Nia, Taraji, Regina, Sanaa. Whatever they saw in their younger years must've turned them off completely.
