Today, July 1, 2026, our magnificent nation, embracing our Diaspora community with pride, comes together with the Nkomo family to celebrate the enduring legacy of the 27th anniversary of the passing of the revered national hero and Vice President of our Republic, Dr. Joshua Mqabuko Nyongolo Nkomo, who left an indelible mark on our history on this day in 1999.
Fondly remembered as "Chibwe Chitedza", "Umdala Wethu", or "Father Zimbabwe", the late Vice President dedicated his life to the relentless pursuit of liberation and selfless service to our people. With unwavering resolve, Dr. Nkomo embarked on his journey as a champion of the trade union movement, later entering the political arena with an unshakeable commitment to free our motherland from colonial rule.
As a towering nationalist and Pan-African freedom fighter, he embodied the spirit of selflessness, tirelessly advocating for love, unity, peace, diligence, and integrity in the service of our nation. The values of selflessness, unity, and diligence that defined our late liberation icon remain the foundation upon which our nation stands. It is essential that we honor this rich legacy and pass it on to future generations.
Let us pay tribute to his memory by continuing to forge a united and prosperous Zimbabwe, where all citizens can thrive. #FatherZimbabwe #JoshuaNkomo #UmdalaWethu #Zimbabwe #Unity #Legacy
WATCH | I witnessed a shocking and deeply concerning incident on the road yesterday. This kombi appeared to be carrying around 32 schoolchildren, which is far beyond a safe passenger capacity. The front seat alone seemed to have four passengers squeezed into it.
I am not sure which school the children were coming from, but the vehicle was travelling from Harare CBD towards Ruwa. The kombi had a yellow number plate (Registration Number: AGN 8817) and was not even branded as a school transport vehicle, yet it was carrying a large number of children while clearly overloaded.
This is especially worrying at a time when the nation is still mourning the tragic loss of children in the recent Gweru bus fire. The condition of the vehicle also appeared questionable, with the tyres looking worn and potentially unsafe.
Please share this so that the relevant authorities, parents, or the police can investigate and take appropriate action before a tragedy occurs. It seems the driver may be avoiding peak police patrol times by operating early in the morning and later in the evening.
As a parent and concerned citizen, I am heartbroken to see children being transported in such dangerous conditions.

The day I left my country, everyone kept telling me how lucky I was.
"You're going abroad. You'll be rich."
At the airport, my mother smiled the whole time.
The second I walked through security, I looked back.
She wasn't smiling anymore.
She was crying so hard she could barely stand.
That's when I realized...
I wasn't chasing a dream.
I was leaving my entire life behind.
WATCH This incident occurred today, 27 June, at Musami Cross, Domborembudzi. These schoolboys boarded a Bolt Cutter bus at Juru Growth Point heading to Mutoko. The bus was already full when they got on, but they were told there would be seats available shortly.
However, when the bus reached Musami Cross, it became even more overloaded. The boys then asked for a refund for the remaining part of their journey so they could stay behind and find alternative transport.
Instead of being assisted, they were forced off the bus and assauIted by the bus crew. The US$20 they had paid for transport was also not refunded.
Please take action, @PoliceZimbabwe

This video Reminiscently Triggers Nostalgic Egalitarian founding Principles of ZANU-PF, which we were taught when we were growing up, before the Sins of Avarice took over the party.
A Legion of Avaricious Demons that have possessed the party must be Exorcised at all cost, so that ZANU-PF can regain its former Glory!!!
You are spot on there. They must not be providers. The same goes with miners, they must not be transporters and Wholesalers must not be retailers. The list is endless
We are coming up with a Statutory Instrument to stop Medical Aids from also providing services, as there is a serious conflict of interest threatening the existence of independent medical practice in Zimbabwe. Being the insurer and the provider has resulted in numerous challenges that we seek to correct. Some medical aids are fighting this SI by hook and crook because they have been benefitting from the clear conflict of interest and anti-competitive nature of this arrangement. We notice that the state media seems to have been dragged into this and have not even cared to hear the Govt’s side. We are very disappointed to say the least.
Furthermore, on the question of authorship: an opinion must have an author. How can we have an opinion that is said to be done by a "correspondent"? Whose opinion is that? That would make readers believe it is the paper's opinion or a corporate-sponsored opinion. State Media has a responsibility to refuse to publish such. When a "correspondent" is listed instead of a named individual, the reader cannot assess bias, motive, or accountability. Is it the newspaper speaking? A hired public relations firm? An anonymous corporate interest? In matters of public health policy, where billions of dollars and the viability of independent medical practice hang in the balance, anonymity is unacceptable. State Media, in particular, has a duty to model transparency. Publishing unattributed opinions as if they were news or editorial consensus deceives the public and undermines trust. If an opinion is worth publishing, it is worth signing. Govt insists on this principle, and State Media should refuse to publish any opinion piece that hides behind the vague label of "correspondent."

This is a highly dangerous driver who should never be anywhere near a steering wheel. This kind of behaviour is deplorable he does not value human life. A custodial sentence is appropriate
