@MLLanzillotta1 Amen! I'm busy reading Dr Gabor Mate's In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts - such valuable and empathetic insights into self-soothing behavior that can metastasise into addiction.
In case it wasn't already obvious in this podcast, I'm officially out closet now, stating that I have used #psilocybin to manage my mental wellbeing. Unfortunately this substance is illegal in #SouthAfrica but hopefully this will change soon, making this medicine widely available
So, I'm out closet. On national TV. Stating that I've used #psilocybin to manage wellbeing. Hopefully it will be available for medical use for every1 without fear of criminal or social backlash. Have spent 4 years advocating for policy & stigma change. https://t.co/ZgEx3zPWsA
Talking with trees - drawing on indigenous knowledge in the face of #climatecollapse. Another part of the complex story of the wellbeing potential of #psilocybin as discussed on #caretblanche tonight

Legalising a new drug is a long journey through efficacy and safety trials. We investigate how #psilocybin is faring as one woman heads to court for the right for people to use #MagicMushrooms. That’s next on #CarteBlanche. @DerekWatts https://t.co/jzllnOeSRl

#Psilocybin-assisted therapy for treating depression & other mood disorders is coming, it's just a matter of time. If it gets decriminalized thru high court process, or medicalized thruSAHPRA. #CarteBlanche talks about it this Sunday. https://t.co/WXnO9Pwqhl @LeonieJoubert
Urgent thoughts on #WorldObesityDay:
1/ #Obesity (#diabetes, #heartdisease etc) still seen as self-inflicted and shameful. But it goes hand-in-hand with other poverty-related forms of #hunger (like infant and child underweight, stunting, etc).

Makes total sense. There's no point in damaging individual lives & over-burdening criminal justice system by criminalizing people for having small quantities of self-soothing substances on their person. If alcohol/nicotine are legal (given harms/risks), these others should be too
High Court process to #decriminalise#psilocybin might finally start this year. If so, will pave way for psilocybin-assisted therapy for treating #depression, #anxiety & substance use disorders in #SouthAfrica. Hope to update this 2017 story https://t.co/OFqpsCrSXU
