Lindsay Clancy is on trial in Massachusetts after being accused of killing her three children inside their home in 2023.

Her defense says she was suffering from postpartum depression, postpartum psychosis, insomnia, hallucinations, and medication-related side effects.

Prosecutors argue she acted deliberately, choosing a time when Patrick Clancy was away from the house. The facts of the killings are not disputed; the question is whether she was criminally responsible at the time.

The case has ignited a fierce online divide. A GoFundMe for Clancy has raised more than $800,000, with supporters portraying her as a victim of a broken mental-health system. But compassion for mental illness cannot erase what happened to three innocent children.

Was this a planned murder, or a devastating mental-health crisis shaped by psychosis and psychiatric medication? And why is so little attention being paid to the role SSRIs and other medications may have played?
