…Cristo murió por nuestros pecados, conforme a las Escrituras; 4 y que fue sepultado, y que resucitó al tercer día, conforme a las Escrituras. —1 de Corintios 15:3-4
Remembering sacrifice of Jesus on the cross at @Kaufman_Espanol. —Borrowed from my son, @Luis__Juarez; “In the darkness of the cross, the brightest light of redemption was born.”
I had a blessed time speaking on cultural intelligence at F1 International Student Orientation to a group of students at @CriswellCollege. Thank you, Dr. @barrycreamer, Lance E L Ouellette, @Luis__Juarez, Noemi Castaneda for having me.
I have no issue watching some of my pastor friends criticize James Talarico's theology.
I just wish many of them would be as outspoken regarding the theology driving our current administration.
That prophetic criticism gap—in my opinion—causes the church to lose credibility.
8. Sacralizing the Political
One of the earliest warning signs that a supposedly conservative religious leader has betrayed the Christian faith, this move is highly evident among sycophants. If political calculus drives your moral claims, rather than vice versa, you have fallen.
@Bezner Thank you @Bezner for the courage of speaking truth in a prophetic way. Sadly, in many pulpits, political ideologies are customized in a way that appears to be Christ message leading people toward a political party and away from the real God.
* that Trump is mentioned 1,500 times in the files released thus far
* the DOJ taking legal action against the Fed
* repeated bullying of a fellow NATO member
* unconstitutional actions taken by ICE
* the cowardice of Congress to act
Just to name a few.
If, for example, a pastor endorsed Trump/Republicans, then by now that pastor should have drawn public attention to at least some of the following:
* the use of SNAP recipients as political leverage
* the fact that Trump continues to slow the release of the Epstein files
Here's my rule for pastors thinking about endorsing/backing a political candidates/party:
Don't.
If, however, you choose to do so, when those you endorsed do something grievous, then call it out at the same level you endorsed.
If you don't, you & the church lose credibility.
Really enjoyed @jenwilkin’s piece in this month’s CT on re-centering teaching and Bible study (beyond sermons). Worth considering if you’re in church leadership. https://t.co/wEHrAXCFEp
@Bezner@jenwilkin Thank you @Bezner for sharing @jenwilkin’s article. Frequently, pressing ministry demands can divert our attention, causing us to overlook the distinction between evangelism and discipleship—a sustained process that involves deep bible knowledge and mentorship.
Visiting the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem was a sacred reminder of the incarnation of the Word, where God took on flesh and dwelt among us for the redemption of humanity. I reflected on the mystery of Christ, Emmanuel, the foundation of our faith and hope.
Getsemaní: un lugar, un peso, una paz… Aquí, Jesús dijo “sí” por amor a nosotros.
Gethsemane: such place, such weight, such peace… Here, Jesus said “yes” out of love for us.
Today I had the privilege of visiting the Western Wall, the last remaining part of the Second Temple. A place filled with history, faith, tears, hope… and the fingerprints of millions who have come before us seeking God.
