Our wonderful speaker Rich Jasso provided us with an update on the Pacifica Vietnam War Memorial that he and four others have been working on for the past two years. This memorial is specifically dedicated to those Pacificans that fought in the war and never made it home.
In honor of Earth Month and in conjunction with the Pacific Beach Coalition our club worked on pulling weeds on Palmetto this morning. We made fast work of this area and it looks great. Keep Pacifica Beautiful!
Our special guest today was Matilda Ledin with the Borgen Project. They focus on global poverty and advocating for those that don't have a voice in government. This woman came to this country as a student and found her calling to help others.
We were so honored to have Mayor Sue Beckmeyer & City Manager Kevin Woodhouse as presenters last evening. They provided the state of the city. They discussed goals & finances. They candid about the challenges facing Pacifica & their efforts to accomplish short & long term goals.

We were so pleased to have Louis Sun Director Pacifica waste water treatment plant. He gave us the inside scoop on how the plant works. It is interesting to know that it runs 15% on solar, they use micro organisms to filter the water and UV light. Very environmental orientated.
Our special guests today Alana Capozzi, Jeannine Curley & Michael Johnston. Provided an outstanding presentation on their Global project to assist marginalized refugees in Greece. Using the GREAT project to provide food, health services and education to assist the 30K refugees.
Steve Carlson provided an update on the Morocco Aqueduct we donated funds to support. Project started in 2015. It's over a mile long. Several farmers get steady water coming to their farms & the 2 new clothing washing stations keeps the dirty water separated from the clean water.
We were so honored to have Shelby Kardas & Alex Eaton from Stove International as our speakers this evening. They facilitate the placement of low-smoke, fuel-efficient, & safe cookstoves in collaboration with local communities to support families and protect the environment.
We had John McDowell from the San Mateo County Association of Grand Jurors as our speaker today. John talked about what & how the Civil Grand Jury is & works. They have a lot of power in overseeing local government agencies. It's 19 volunteers who work on investigating issues.
We had Sandy Rosenthal as our speaker today. She wrote the book Words Whisper in Water, her battle with the Army Corp of Engineers in Louisiana were the levees failed during hurricane Katrina. Her work is one of the reasons California has improved the levee systems in this state.

Before I retired seven years ago, I was a project manager for a company providing technical support for government agencies in the field of national and community service. I also worked on many volunteer projects at my son’s schools and parish church. Over those 30 years,
